Hi, my name is Cara and I'm 37 married with an 18y daughter and 6y son
I currently still work full time as a CCU nurse, but will need to be looking elsewhere soon,
This week after 3 years of being told by GP that pain is due to being fat (BMI 31) so about 3 stone overweight...I finally had a diagnosis of moderate to severe degenerative osteoarthritis. My consult said I have the knees of a 50 year old and the hips/spine of someone twice my age. CT has also shown mod changes in neck, shoulders, arms and fingers.
I'm stiff and sore
I've just been started on Butrans patches as fentanyl didn't suit.
Physio/hydro to start ASAP. other than that just carry on while I can.

    Hello and welcome Cara.
I hope we can help you on this forum. You can ask lots of questions on LWA and relax and have a laugh or debate on Chitchat.Any work probs can be addressed and we have a helpline too!
I am sorry you are stiff and in pain. You should get some medication to help with this as now you have a diagnosis.
They do like to blame weight for our aches and pains dont they
    ?

I also have OA in multiple joints, but I am quite a bit older, nearly 60.
It is a struggle getting the right meds, I am not there just yet.
You will get lots of support on this site, and people are very friendly.
We also have the chit chat, if you want to come and relax with us .

    Hi Cara

Just popping in to say hello and add a welcome from me too.
Sorry you are struggling with work now and the aches and pains harder to cope with. Do post any questions on the Working or Living with forums. I do sympathise, I now struggle with work but will say when I eventually got to see a physio and started hydrotherapy it really helped improve my mobility. I hope you find the same.
Hope to see you posting again soon.

Hi Cara, welcome to the forum, from one retired nurse. Sorry to hear about your OA, I wonder if our jobs only added to the problems that we now have? Back in the day when health and safety was unheard of...........I have spent a fair few times on CCU, on both sides of the bed!
Hope you get lots of help and support from the forum, the people are wonderful and supportive.
