hi again guys,
my husband is not happy at all with me on statins he says he noticed a huge difference in me since going on them, i have piled on the weight and that does not help with my half knee replacements and walking and the foot pain is just awful....I have made an appointment to see my doctor next week about coming off the statins.0 -
Hello Achy. Get off the statins if you can. There is much debate about them. The Mail on Sunday had a good article about them, the pros and cons, a couple of weeks ago. It must be online somewhere in their site. My mum stopped taking hers and felt so much better. Who cares about cholesterol? Something's gonna get you in the end! Eat sensibly, exercise if you can, that's the best way I feel. Mine was 2.7, now about 4.6. Not bothered. Dreamdaisy.Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

hi aching feet,i have ra it started when i was 35 now 49.it started in my fingers then my feet i could hardly walk once i was put on meds much better,i have had ops on both feet, for bunions and toes straightened also insoles, they only hurt if i walk too much,it is hard finding comfy shoes i have been wearing ugg boots all winter, now flat pumps.i am sure once you are on right meds you will feel much better'have you tried a tens machine i find that helps.good luck0

Hi Achy, only just spotted your post. She took herself off them. That's where I get my bloody-mindedness from! Just because Docs recommend doesn't mean we have to slavishly obey. I have taken myself off my BP meds for the same reason - I felt better without them. My doctor doesn't understand, but he's healthy. That ia a big difference. DreamdaisyHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi achy,
I have no knowledge or experience of statins but am always cautious about stopping any prescribed drug before seeing the doc...(a bit of a wimp me)
we are all different and the combination of meds we are on are given to us for a reason. I'm not naive enough to believe the docs get it right for us all the time (far from it!!!) and if something isn't helping or making us feel worse/ giving us new problems then of course I would look to come off them...but I'd talk it over with the doc in case there is something more effective & has less side effects
I found this info on statins that you might find interesting:
http://www.medicinenet.com/statins/article
let us know how you get on at the docs.

Hi, Sorry you're having some pain problems at the moment and I hope you get sorted out.
I have just had insoles made for me be the pod Can't remember the rest!!! at the hospital. He told me to only wear them for an hour the first day and increase it gradually each day. I have done this and they are fine! I must admit, the first day I wore them, they seemed so uncomfortable that I was sure I'd not be able to use them, but little by little I've got used to them.
The down side is that I have had to buy new shoes, as the only pair that fitted were very old and falling to bits! Shoes needed a lot of space between the top of the shoe and the heel, otherwise they turn into flip flops!!! :oops:Some of the insoles that the makers put in the shoes come out, so you can use the insoles better. The lady in the shoe shop showed me this and my eyes nearly popped out when she ripped out the cushiioned layer of the shoe, but they will go in again as they are meant to do this!!!
Hope this may help a bit, love Sue
Good luck, sorry this is so long, but its hard to describe. :shock:0
