Well, I've got my 2nd appt with the consultant tomorrow morning.
First one was just over 6 wereks {couple of days over} This is 9 weeks later. so just under 4 months post op.
Not sure how it will go...Whether he will mention the 2nd hip or not and what my reaction will be if he does.
I do want to mention my lower spine....originally I was diagnosed with OA in b oth hips and lower spine.....since that spine hasnt been mentioned.
I'm still staggering a bit in crowds as I try to weave in and out. Dont know if one leg is longer than the other or whether its because pre op I was balanced......2 wonky legs
and n ow I have one operated one and one still wonky so I'm unbalanced.....whats new my husband says.....asking for a clout round the chops he is LOL

Hello Hileena,
It is scary thinking of further operations. They will suggest operating on other hip if they feel you need it. I am in a similar position to you. Last visit surgeon said he would put me on the list for 2nd hip replacement(I had one last July) except my ankle needs replacing too and that would be his choice of next joint to operate on.
Personally I want a break from it all.so i am going to string it out as long as I can manage.I see consultant next week and no doubt they will try to frighten me by facts and figures.
I dont know about you but I still feel worn out from the stress of the last replacement and feel i need to recover a bit more.
They might suggest you consider another replacement so you can have a think about it.

Hi...He did tell me at the beginning that I needed both done...one was as bad as the other....except for the fact that I have arthritis in my left ankle and was putting more weight on my right hip so thats the one he opted for first
Its just under 4 months since I had it done I def. feel I need a break except for the fact that I'm still a bit unsteady in crowds...if I have to weave in and out and wonder if having the other one done would balance me up a bit LOL

Hi Hileena, good luck with your appointment tomorrow, you have done really well. Let us know all the details!!! Remember the decision re surgery is yours - so don't feel pressured - you can always say you want to go away and think about it. Ask him to refer you to an orthotist to check you leg lengths they are much better at the measuring than the surgeons!!
SpeedalongI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Best of luck...x0

Hi Hileena,
just adding my good wishes for your appointment tomorrow.
As far as considering another op ....go with your instincts, if you feel it is too soon, or too much, or both then tell him. As others said you can ask for more time to think about it...no harm in that, and it allows you to get more info on what would be best.
It's a big decision 'opting' for any elective surgery....so take your time and don't be pressurized either way.
best of luck for tomorrow....& please let us know how you get on.
