Hi everyone

I've almost calmed down after reading this article by some moo called Julia Hartley-Brewer. :x :x

http://www.express.co.uk/ourcomments/view/178095

Pardon my language, but what an ill informed, ignorant, lazy bitch...
She's obviously done no research and doesn't care that there are some people who are genuinely ill and who have worked most of their lives, been kicked out by their employer, and have no choice but to rely on benefits.

The best bit is (for which they will, shock horror, have proper medical tests).:lol: From a hack to a quack...

I sincerely hope that something really horrible happens to her.

Well we won't buying that crappy newspaper again.

Christine

    Hiya Christine

    Wo!!!!

    That is bad!!!!!

One day she will find out for herself - maybe a family member or a friend, but she will find out and when she does HAH!!!!!!

I'm all for getting those who CAN work to work, but it's the labelling of everyone who uses any sort of benefit as scroungers which galls isnt it?

Like your phrase though docs to quacks......

    Classsic :D

I dont buy that paper anyway and wouldnt now for def.

Take care and a deep, deep breath in........and......... out

    Love

She's a posh bint who usually swans about covering the Royals. Ignore her. The Express is not a good paper - in fact few of them are. I won't even check the article. I'm off now to make a JHB doll, and to find some lovely, long, sharp hat pins. Dreamdaisy

    Hi Chrissie,

Nice to see you by the way.

She really does have some illness coming to her cus everyone (bar a handful of really lucky people) does...... I am always worried with generalisation and she seems to have used that as well as journalist licence..... I'm thinking of writing to her actually, be interesting to see if she bothers to answer how she answers..... my money is she will justify it under the umbrella of generalization.... that's whats so wrong with generalizations......

Hope your feeling calmer now? me I off for and addiction and cool down  Stupid woman eh?! Think there might be a lot of this kind of stuff now somehow.....

Hey how are you doing ? Cris x

    What a horrid woman!

Even on my worst days I will always try and drag myself to work, however, should the time come if Arthur gets the better of me and I have to give up work then so be it.

I hope one day she gets some debilatating disease and then she will have some idea what we go through, trying to work and keep it all together as well as battling Arthur!!!

Why don't we write our comments about the article if we feel strongly about it. They are inviting us to do so, underneath the article :) All can slag her ideas off without being too impolite :)

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

    Hi

I read the article. It's apparent that she's fit and well. Only someone who has suffered with a disability would really be able to understand. She is rather ill-informed as people have to undergo tests before qualifying. She obviously doesn't know her ar.e from her elbow.

I think that the saddest thing of all is that, in my experience, it's those people (ie us) who are genuinely sick who continue to struggle to work against all the odds. I'm sure I have read somewhere that, statistically, people with chronic illnesses are generally more reliable employees because they simply don't take time off unless they really have to. I had to give up work last summer, finally, and am very lucky that we were not reliant on my earnings to survive (I had, a couple of years previously, made the transition from a horrible, highly stressful - but reasonably well paid - job which I had hated for the past 12 years to a part-time minimum wage job which I enjoyed - and really missed when I had to give up). Still, at least the financial shock wasn't so great when I had to give up work. But having read some of the horror stories on here about people struggling to be approved for desperately needed benefits makes me so cross, when you think of all the real scroungers out there. As for this article - well, as DD says - not worth the paper it's written on! Tilly x

I have been unable to work for 6 years now, I don't like living off benefits but what else is there? this article only explained if this applied to new claimants, what about those who have claimed for years, what about the disabled? love Jaspercatxx

I didnt like how she said its like stealing out neighbours purse. How dare she say were theives. :x :x. The old government are the thives the expense sandal. they should pay it all back. They also have made money out of inside knowledge of banking etc. I know tony blaie made money out of Northan rock failing. The stock market player and bankers. they are the course of out problems. Why should we the ill have to pay for there shamefull abuse of power and incompetance :x

phew and i was in a good mood from joanne :D

Its the usual sort of banter given out by the redtops to sell newspapers, impolite as it is to some.

The real problem is the last Labour Government, they've spent all your money and that is the bottom line.

Now the new government must find a politically convenient line to take, to reduce public spending to acceptable levels or we go under, financially.

Not only did Gordon et al spend all our money, they sold our gold and spent that, then they spent money they didn't even have. It's not only the disabled that are going to suffer, it's everyone. The new government is going to have to raise money - watch taxes go up (despite promises to the contrary), council tax rise (it always does) and VAT be brought into line with Europe. It's not belt tightening - it will be like being squeezed into an Edwardian corset. DD

Morning DD - I like your corset analogy - or rather I don't like it - very painful thought! Hope you are doing ok today?

I'm off to see my lovely consultant, or any else who happens to be free in the department at that time (including the cleaner) next Wednesday. I shall ask about weekly, but in my heart-of-hearts I feel that will only exacerbate the speed of this rapid decline.

Do you get that from your hospital? My letters always say 'Your appointment will be with Dr ? or a nurse practioner.' Very annoying, if I don't see her this time I will create and they will fit me in with her asap. I create politely but firmly. DD

The last government in its dreamlike fantasy of wanting the world to be more socialist and alter the social makeup of our country, will end up doing the reverse.

Those at the bottom of the pile will pay more for the the level of debt in the UK caused by government spending. We will now have to find new levels of tax and aim our spending levels at supporting a more basic lifestyle than the extra comfort what we need to help our disease be manageable.

Petrol will remain one of my big spends, taxation, heating etc etc will all put their demands on us over the next few years.

Will we remember this next time an election looms?

Socialism never works. It's a wonderful concept but human nature just ain't cut out for it. NL was so good at telling us what was good for us, whilst ensuring they had the best of everything. DD
