    Hi Val,

As Lavender Lady said you can get guards, though I think I read Page saying how much money they were  Its was a bit scary the price of them..... Could you get an appointment with OT Val? Maybe they could help?

I hope it does all settle down for you soon and sending a (((( )))) Cris xx

Could you find a way to deal with the pain and take a relaxing bath and really unwind before bed? I know what thats like as I grind my teeth in the night when I'm stressed. Its horrid and annoying. I guess you have to try and relax more xx

Hi, have heard of people using mouth guards for this too ... never crossed my mind they would cost (durr!) Might work out cheaper than lots of dental work though ...

Do you do it every night or just when the pain is worst?

Might be worth tackling it on all fronts and see who has the best solution!! Gp v dentist v OT!!

Hope you find a solution that works - too much grinding will damage the enamel and you have enough on your hands dealing with arther without having to tackle major dentistry ...

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Gum shields, or mouth guards are the best things, I used to have one as I ground my teeth at night. The dentist can sort one out for you, but I seem to remember it wasn't cheap. No harm in asking them for advice though, plus the price :!: xx Bubbles

Hi, Yes, I also have been threatened with a mouth guard. Sorry, but I don,t think I could bear it! I had a false tooth fitted after an extraction of a front tooth so that the space could alter before a perminant bridge could be fitted. My Mum resqued it from the bin at least once!  No real helpful suggestions, sorry.

    Val

    Just picked up on this.

I wake up or get during the day very bad pain from my ear down my jaw and into neck. My ear is so sensative I cannot touch it.

Well they said it was arthur coming in again. The dentist did recommend a gum shield as you tense up when you are in pain.

Val there are still NHS dentist and the cost would be cheaper for you if you can find one.
