Hi

I wonder if you can help me please. I have RA in the hands anf wrists. Just lately I have not that my hand is dropping downwards.

When I see it has gone down I can bring my hand upwards but when I look it has dropped again.

Does this happen when you have RA in your wrist?

Thanks you

Trisher xx

    Hello

I don't have experience of this aside from I know that when the pain is bad in my hand I unwittingly hold it in a floppy droopy way.

Hope someone will be along soon to share similar experience to help you.

Hi Trisher nice to meet you!
My arther is maily in my hands and worsening recently.
Not sure I know how you mean about your hands.. I find mine goes into funny positions as if I am unwhittingly protecting it! I also tend to pull up my shoulder keeping the hand out of the way of knocking it against anything. (so then the shoulder stiffens)

Have you had any surgery on your hands ..what medication are you taking?

    regards CB

I wonder if you have weak muscles in your wrists that is making your hand do this? Doyou have any splints for your hands? They will help them stay in a better position. My hands tend to push outwards when they are resting, my splints are on to stop this!

    Hi Trish,

As Janie said have you got splints? The muscles take a bit of a pounding as well with this bone stuff and maybe physio could help?

Mine are turning out a bit and I do pull them back and make them stay in the right place. I do hope you can get some help on this one from the hospital. Ask your gp and see what they think but it does sound like you could do with some help. ((((( ))))) Cris xx

    Dear Trisher

Thank you for your posting on the forum. It is important that you check this out with your rheumatologist or GP to see if this is related to your RA and to receive a proper diagnosis. They may send you to a hand specialist to find out what is going on. You could contact your rheumatology department to speak to the rheumatology nurse prior to your next appointment. I hope that this is helpful to you. You can always call us on the helpline on 0808 800 4050 (Mon – Fri, 10am – 4pm) if you feel you would like more support.

    Best Wishes
    Dawn

Hi trisher only just read your post sorry

My wrists are all nobbly and my hands also face down. One hand is in a closed pos and the right hand will not close at all. When my hands are on a table they point to the side. I was once tol that my tendons had gone by the gp. They could fuse my hands and make them look pretty but i once knew a lady with fused hands and she couldn't use them. Did look nice but useless.

I can cope with mine how they are , obviously is hard but i get ther in the end.

Good luck for tomorrow Trish, let's hope that you get sorted. Low white cell means you can't fight infection which you need obviously.

Let us know how you get on
