Hi
I have been `patiently` (ha ha) waiting to hear some news about my hip restrictions via the secretary (as most of you know). Well, surprise, surprise, no news. I was hoping to get the letter she said she was printing off last week, but nothing. Also, I was hoping for a call from her to tell me what she had found out from speaking to a consultant. But again, nothing.

I rang my GP yesterday to see if the letters had gone there. But they haven`t had anything either, not even the clinic letter which I know was read to me over the phone 2 weeks ago.
So I am going to ring her again today.
I am expecting her to say, that she has not seen anyone to speak to and that i have to wait until my next appointment 14th Oct.
I am sorry to sound so fed up, but I am!! Both my hips are sore and I don`t feel I could walk outdoors without the crutches as my own hip gives way, and I am scared of this happening and my THR suffering .
I will keep you posted.

You have every right to moan, this is awful treatment, you have had so much to put up with, the least they could do is ring you.
How does your hip feel now, does it feel well for a better word secure.
You ring them back today, they seem to think, that saying we will ring you back, that is the end of that.
Please let us know how you get on.
Good Luck

I can totally relate to how you feel. I'm waiting for a reply to a letter myself. It's so frustrating when people say they will do something but then don't. Why don't people have pride in doing their jobs properly anymore? and I don't know if it's just me but I always think it's bad manners as well not to reply to people. I hate it when you leave a message on an answerphone and they don't get back to you and when you ring again and get to speak to them they do that sigh as if you are being a nuisance and then go into some long story about why they haven't replied. In the meantime while you are waiting for a reply/phone call you are stuck in limbo and can't get on with things. It's a pity that the people we have to deal with don't have arthritis themselves then we might get a better service and you can bet your life if they were in the situation of having to wait for other people they would be the first to complain. Sorry about the rant but it's something that really bugs me. I know this doesn't help you but at least you know you're not alone. I hope you get some answers soon.

I can imagine how frustrated you are and how worried you are at hurting the other hip.
I hope soon someone gives you the call or letter you are waiting for.
In the meantime take it steady and be careful
Thinking of you

They are leading you a merry dance (if only you could) unfortunately I am not at all surprised they are a law unto themselves, why dont you send them a copy of the governments white paper, here is a snippet from it, maybe they havent read it!!
LIBERATING THE NHS
Putting patients and public first
4. We will put patients at the heart of the NHS, through an information revolution and greater choice and control:
a.
Shared decision-making will become the norm: no decision about me without me.
b.
Patients will have access to the information they want, to make choices about their care. They will have increased control over their own care records.

You have every right to moan and be frustrated.
That is a major thing that has happened and you cant get any onfo from them
sending you lots of ((((( )))))

this is a shocking way to be treated.  and you have every right to be annoyed and frustrated.
I hope that the secretary has better news today.... but if not ask to speak to the consultant. they are not gods... and can speak to us without the secretary go between when necessary. :!:
it is unfair for you to be left waiting for advice!
let us know how you get on NB.

Well I have just got off the phone with a secretary. I found out that the secretary I spoke to last week is off sick, which probably explains why I haven`t heard anything. The person I spoke to today checked the consultants tray and my stuff was in there waiting to be dealt with. She said with my usual secretary being off sick, there hasn`t been anyone there to point him in the direction of stuff he needs to attend to, but promised to `push` him in that direction, but she might not see him til next week as he works over more than 1 site.
I explained how important this information is to me and to my job and she said she totally understood. So I will wait again but am feeling tearful now as I had geared myself up for this call and feel flat now.
I can`t be cross with someone being off sick, as thats exactly what I am at the moment, and I feel I am letting my client/works down too.
NB
none of what has happened is within your control to change and in fact yo have been doing everything yo can to get the information and advice that might allow you to plan going back to work, if possible.
the secretary being off sick is just a bummer! and it's bound to have knocked you sideways.
I do hope that this other secretary will do as she has promised.....
love and gentle (((hugs)))
keep your chin up flower. X

Oh that is a downer flower. How frustrating after doing all the running with them. As Iris says it’s beyond your control. All you can do is look after yourself and take some time out with your family.

I'm not surprised you are feeling fed up and impatient. You have been hanging on a long time for this information.
I'm sorry you are still aching, you are wise to keep using the crutches until you feel more steady and less sore.
You can't help being off work, so resign yourself to resting and letting time work some healing powers on your hip.
Speedy
I hope you hear before the weekend, but expect not - I am sorry it is likely to make you tearful as you are totally powerless
You are right people can't help being off sick, but the frustration

I am sorry i am late again... I kinda running on less than normal but am sorry i am so late.
You know all you can do is keep plugging away at them and with luck this one might just do as she says. Sending you a bucket of support and a ((( ))) and fingers crossed you really will hear soon. Cris xx
Please don`t apologise, you have so much going on yourself too.
I`m not thinking too much about it over the weekend as she said she wouldn`t see him til next week probably anyway.
One of my colleagues rang me today and was hoping I would be back soon, (because she misses me, not in a `pressure` type of way) . I do miss work and hate being at home in limbo, but hopefully will know what I`m up against next week.
Hope you are not suffering with this weather too much, its been tipping down all day here so I`ve not ventured out.
NB
How frustrating to still have to wait. It's such a shame the consultant didn't give you clearer information when you saw him last. Definitely don't go out without crutches, though, hon, as it's very slippery out there.

The letters from GP to hospital do a similar trip arriving in a post room to be stored before being dealt with by the gremlins. The letters are then reinterpreted, jumbled up and misspelt before being sent to another department, didn't you know?
I've given up waiting, its a patients game! Come the revolution someone will invent a way of sending and receiving these letters electronically, until then..... maybe someone could invent a machine whereby two people could talk to each other across the ether????
8) Its a grin, honest!
You could do without this frustration, but hopefully it will be sorted out next week..
Hope your hip is settling in OK again..
Mind those blooming leaves if you step outside - I skidded this morning - brilliant - one more thing to worry about!!
Take care

Airwave, thanks for your accurate picture of NHS communications!! It made me smile
Pennie, Marion, DD,
I haven`t even put a foot outside today. Too wet and windy. But I do need to go out tomorrow and Sunday , but Mr NB will be there to keep me on my feet!!
Marion- I hope you are ok after your `slip`. Darn leaves!!
NB
Flower the system sucks! All you need is an answer to your questions and maybe a bit of hep as well and ..... They will get back to you just the waiting game gets hard.
We are trying to bellow up some better weather... its bright out west.... and really glad Mr NB will be there. A ((((( ))))) and really hope Monday they actually get back to you! Cris xx
Hi Marion,
I really hope your ok? ((( ))) xx
I can hardly believe what I've just read, and if I could be I'd be hopping mad on your behalf, but will a cyber hop do :?:
I really hope that next week brings you better news. Whatever the news is, you really do need to know what you are dealing with don't you? that way you can plan ahead and let people know.
Don't worry about 'letting people down' - I knwo that is easier to type than to do, but really they will be managing without you, and they will want you to be right before you return.
sending you special Yorkshire hugs (((()))))
WOnky
Thanks for the Yorkshire hugs the wind has blown them over the Pennines!! I have calmed down a bit , and am less upset. (helped by a glass of vino  ) Theres not a lot I can do til the weekend is over but I will be back on the warpath on Monday!!
Cris, I`m waiting for the nicer weather to arrive......I think it needs a bigger shove!
NB
Only just caught up with the thread, Virgin media are having a laugh, charging me for broadband and giving me anything but.
Here's hoping for a bright and sunny Monday morning with NHS communcations at full speed and all the news you are waiting for. and the consultant personally phones you at breakfast and offers a home consultation at lunch time. Thats what you deserve!
BUT it may not happen, its the real world after all. How good that your world has a strong Mr NB with a strong arm to rely on and colleagues that are missing your company.
Hope that this week gets better and better, take care of yourself,
Elaine x
