I have been told I may have Arthritis in my knee, waiting to have an x-ray I cannot walk far and in pain, feeling fed up and worried as we like walking,I feel as if my life is changing,a few weeks back I were fine it seems to have come on very quickly,I am taking panadol extra which do not seem to work still in pain, I cannot take asprin so have to take care what I do take.
I have been told to keep walking thats not easy at the moment ! how can I help myself any tips please,I were told by my Dr to strap my knee up which I think may help, waiting for this x-ray may take 10 days waiting, until then I'm a bit worried being in pain and not able to walk far which is making me worry.

Thank you for writing, no I do not know what kind of arthritis it is I'm just at the waiting stage I'm afraid x-rays soon, do you know of any drugs I could take without asprin in it ? my Dr said try panadol which I have tried.... they do not seem to be working,if I could get rid of this pain I'm sure I would be a lot better you understand.

I'm sorry you're having such pain just now with your knee.... and I have every sympathy as I have problems with my knees too.
If you are in a lot of pain and the paracetamol just isn't helping then perhaps you need to see your doc again and ask if he can prescribe something more effective?
It sounds as though you may have to wait for the results of your x rays before knowing for sure what's 'going on' with your knee and then be in a better position for getting the advice and support you need.
Meanwhile you could post your question on our Living With Arthritis Forum? ... or as DD said phone and speak to our great helpline.
hope to see you posting around the forums soon.

Yes your right wait for the results of the x-ray. how are you doing what is your story.

I have psoriatic arthritis which affects a number of joints, and have had a few ops over the years to try to put things right. My most recent op was a wrist replacement back in June this year.
No matter what type of arther any of us has, there are always folks here on the forum to chat with, ask questions of, to share advice or be supported.... and everyone is welcome.

I have been told from my x-rays its wear and tear arthritis, how can I help myself to stop it from it getting any worse, do you know of any exercises I can do ? its in both knees the left one is worse.
I cannot take Asprin so what do you think I could take for this pain in my knees.
All for now, tying to get used to not walking like we used to do.

If you do start strapping your knee up try not to do it all the time, I ended up very dependant on wearing a knee brace for many years.. I now only strap it (the worst of the two) up when really nescesarry..
Take care, stay warm
