Well, not so much the unicycle as the fat woman riding it. I need a boot up the backside please, folks: I am losing my nerve over this meth malarkey and I have no idea why. I have been self-stabbing with the humira since time began (well, that's how it feels anyway) and I had a burst on enbrel back in '06, which was twice weekly and as easy as falling off a unicycle, but this time it is, somehow, different. I do not know why and I am very exasperated with myself. Tell me to sort myself out please: tomorrow is M day, I haven't yet decided when - that could be part of the problem, perhaps. DD

Aww, DD, this is most unlike you.

You should take the M in the evening, after you have eaten and ideally just before you go to bed. That way you can literally sleep on it and keep discomfort to the minimum, so even if you do feel rough, hopefully you'll manage to get to sleep before it bothers you too much.

    Sending you hugs!

    Hi DD

Do you get nasty side effects :?: :?: . If so, is this why you have fallen of the wagon :!: or unicycle :?: I know that I had horrid side effects so I use to dread every time I had to inject myself - even started to come up with silly excuses to defer it :!:

But I would tell myself that it was doing its job - well I was better than I had been once the side effects had gone :!:

So - come on lady - get a grip - get that injection in your hand and do the deed :!: :!:

Am thinking of you though and sending you loads ((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))) to help you :!:

Oh psyart and alarkra, I have only had one or two bouts of very mild nausea as a result of injected meth, so that isn't a problem. I am extolling the virtues (to myself) of being in control - having ranted mightily from time to time about the incovenience of going to the hospital, I know this is the chance to avoid that, which is a good thing. I think I am just sulking: time to grow up, DD, and I will. Thank you both, boot received and understood! DD

Hey DD - please don't beat yourself up about this, as it will only make things harder for you, and I know you don't want that.

I think you know that I did manage to do my own MTX injections for two years, before finally succumbing to the terrors that had gripped me for a long time. MTX day used to fill me with dread ..... and I suffered agonies all day just thinking about what I needed to do. So what you typed today sounds so very familiar.

Beating oneself up about it is not going to make this any easier. WHy it is happening at this particular time is not the point - though I do understand why you feel the need to try to explain to yourself what might seem a bizarre set of circumstances. Why can you do one and not the other? I don't know, but does it really matter why?

Perhaps you have underestimated just how brilliantly you have been doing for the last few weeks. THis may just be a little wobble, and you'll manage tomorrow fine.

It is perfectly normal not to want to stab oneself with a needle to which is attached a syringe full of stuff which comes with a biohazard label attached, and for which you have to have a load of specialist equipment and training just to handle. I know in your other post that you describe it as 'poison' in your cupboard ........ and your mind is no doubt connecting the two and deciding that perhaps it is not a good thing to do  YOur threat system has taken over and decided that it does not want you to injure yourself.

Please talk to someone about this, if it continues to be a problem for you, rather than doing what I did, which was to try and keep going rather than be viewed as 'stupid' and 'useless', words which do me no good at all and which do not describe what was going on at all.

DD there are alternatives, and you do know that you don't have to do this if you decide it is not for you.

good luck with whatever you decide to do. In my case it was to ask my nurse at the GP surgery to do my injection for me. That works for me, and unless there is an extremely pressing reason why I wish to change this arrangement, I have decided that it is not worth the grief to me to try and overcome this. If I change my mind then I know I'll need to get psychological help for the problem and I'll do that.

thinking of you and sending hugs (((((((((((()))))))))))))

Awe DD I am sorry that you are feeling like this as yes you are normally in control and very brave.
Perhaps you could do your meth stabbing when mr dd is there so that you are not alone and have his support.
I think it is a big thing having to jab ones self and something i know i would not be able to do.
Perhaps would mr dd train up for the job.
I will and did think of you today knowing it was wednesday.
I hope you manage and like wonky said ring someone for more advice.
    Sending you loads of courage

All done and dusted, and it was not a problem in any way. I made some tea, then whilst that 'brewed' in its mug wandered thro to the bathroom, muttered, stabbed, cleared up and came out to a lovely fresh cuppa. THANK YOU to everyone for your kind words and thoughts, especially Rob who made me squeal with laughter! I apologise for letting the side down and I am back to my bristly, impatient and ebullient self. The unicycle squeaks on. DD

It was easy daylily, absolutely simples. I know 'they' say that the first time of anything is the hardest, and that is undoubtedly true: the first time you get overdrawn, the first time you have sex, the first time you commit murder (well, haven't done that one yet but I am sure it will be a toughie :) ): gawd knows what got into me last night, but whatever it was has been beaten into submission. I hope your day is going well: my regards to you both. DD

Glad to hear that your collywobbles over the mtx injection is over and done with DD! I hope you are wheeling around on that unicycle now, after being brave and doing the dread deed.

Thank you nanarose, I can assure you no bravery was required - I am just out of practice! I am back to juggling and wobbling round the circus ring, followed (as ever) by the chanting nurse, who is now flinging extra needles and poison at me, along with everything else. Dangerous business, this. DD

DD You're missing a great business opportunity here

Lacemaking begins with a gently rounded cushion marked out with fine pins and then the weaving begins. If you prefer you could try tatting instead, using a shuttle

I shall expect you to produce a beautifully crafted doily by Easter, if nothing else.

Just one caveat, don't attempt either in a condominium, it could have disastrous consequences.

    Hi DD

Sorry I missed this cry for help but glad you did manage to steady the unicycle and do the dreaded dead. Strange how unexpected wobbles can unbalance us when we are caught off guard as you were, but I am glad there were people around to offer sympathy or gently bully you in the right direction. (good old Rob) The back to work has been tough this week and I didn't look in yesterday. For the want of something better to do I have just calculated that I have packed 900 tins of the same damn biscuits in a pretty tin for a large department store today!! What a waste of a perfectly good education.
But hey it is duvet day tomorrow. Yippee! Do hope you have a better day and are enjoying having your home back.
    take care
    Chris

At least you didn't eat 900 tins of the same damn biscuits. I have eaten lots of biscuits - Yes, it is lovely having our house back, I have to dismantle the tree today, which won't take long, and then it's all over - for a few months, anyway! Enjoy your sleep-in today chris7, you need the rest. DD

Glad you got over your wobble. Will be much easier next week and how fab not to do all that hanging about at hospital and waiting for the nurse who is late ..... etc etc

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.
