Oh jayneys, wouldn't we all, but it ain't gonna happen. OA is very difficult to 'treat', you are on the right lines with the co-cos, diclo and omep, it's the classic trio of pain duller, anti-inflammatory and stomach protector, but the effectiveness of the meds does vary from person to person. How long have you been on them? Not too long I think, by the sound of things, I hope they do start to help soon. Your GP will deal with the OA, and hopefully refer you soon to a rheumatologist for the suspected RA. My arthritis hasn't yet touched my hips, mine is in my sacro-iliac joints, both knees, both ankles and all my toes. I cannot manage without my crutches, so if you are not yet using a stick give one (or maybe two) a whirl - they can make a great deal of difference. I hope you will keep popping in to see us - we are a friendly bunch and we know our stuff! It's been good to meet you. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

That's Hi Jayneys from me too, sorry it's grim for you at the moment. I'm sure we'd all like it to go away, so join the club.

Hi Janey, hope you are ok this evening, arthur is a real **** eh? It is really difficult sometimes to find the right balance of painkillers and anti-imflatories.. I had some that worked well for years but in the end they weren't doing anything, so have gone back to trial and error.. As you will no doubt discover, we are all different, what works for one may not work for another etc..
Be as well as you can be..
Catch you soonMe-Tony

HI Jayneys,
and welcome.
I have OA too and work in a special school - so appreciate how tough it is.
What is the dosage of the co-codomols? ie are the 8/500's or 30/500's etc?
Do you use wheatie heat bags once home to help soothe your joints?
Is the "Top Man" another GP or an a consultant?
Have you seen an ortho yet?
Have you tried physio/hydro?
Do you have any aids and gadget provided by an OT to assist you?
Oops - sorry have bombarded you with questions!! sorry!!
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -

Don't worry about your spelling, janeys, we can work things out! It would help tho if you take off the caps lock, it would make things easier to read - it's almost as tho you are shouting at us, which I know you are not! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Janyey,
Late welcome fro me.
I so agree with you wouldn't it be good if it just went awayI tried packing its bags for it but to now avail......
Thinking I might just nuke it next
OA is relentless at times and I know how bad that endless nagging, screaming thing can get... always reminds me of a tantrum throwing kid  I try t ignore it as best I can and am lucky I have had it now over half my life so don't remeber what it used to be like..... Deep down I think that helps me to be honest.
Hey I can't spell either so please don't worry about it. My biggest problem just now is hands and eyesight which makes for an interesting result via the spell check at times
Hang in there and maybe you need a different tablet routine? Sometimes a change or adding helps it shut up a bit. Try and get it comfortable and fingers crossed you will have a better tomorrow. Nice to meet you. Cris x0
