I had my hip replaced 18 months ago now and so far it has been amazing.
Over the weekend, i've started to get really bad pains around my hip area on that leg
My pelvis and down leg are just awful but cant remember doing anything to it to cause it!? Can hardly put it down to the weather know there is no snow!!
Feel like i've taken a massive step back and even resorted to Tramadol for the first time in ages which is just making me feel more grumpy and miserable!
Sorry, guess i just needed a little rant to get it off my chest!!
Hope everyone is keeping well.

I had a thr 18 months ago too and get pain but more in the thigh, where the old meets the new bit and it is worse when not taking my mtx and humira which I have cut down due to persistent colds. I go to see my rheummy tomorrow so will ask. Seeing them about my ankle so they might not want to talk about it!
Somebody mentioned around 18 months tendons are getting their act together but no idea if this is correct info.

Hi,
I haven't had a hip replacement so have no experience of this op, sorry  .
I think that it would be worth you seeing your doc so that he can decide/ investigate where the pain originates and advise whether it's related to the new hip or not.
I do hope that the Tramadol helps ease the pain until you can be seen by your doc.
let us know how you get on?

Hi
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your hip after so long with it being good. If it persists maybe you should see your GP to get it checked out. Or your surgeon if you have an appointment coming up? (or you could ring the secretary)
I`m glad you have some pain relief and hope it settles soon for you .

Hello Miss i
The surgeon said to me that you can get pain upto 2 years after THR because bone is meeting the new artificial joint. But please phone AC helpline or speak to your surgeon.Best to check things. He had the benefit of a new x-ray in front of him when speaking to me and said my THR looked fine.

Hi Miss_L, you definitely need to get this checked out. Aches and pains are to be expected and usually can be traced to over doing it, but this sounds worse than that. With a bit of luck the doc will find nothing wrong and set your mind at rest.
Let us know.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Thank you all.
I had a physio appointment today and am being sent back to my surgeon.
She hopes it's tendon related but cant be sure its not problems with the implant .... she was vey non-commital and wouldnt read the x-ray report!
Oh well, at least i will get sorted0 -
I hope you do not have to wait long to see your surgeon. I would get it checked out as soon as possible incase it is an infection which will need to be treated as soon as possible.

 I didn't realise that thr pain can last for two years. I cannot remember anythng about tendons, but both hips (both thr) have b een sore and oainful. Normally they alternate but sometimes they pain together. I will try not to get so stressed about them now. Thanks for the information0

My surgeon told me this this week. I had no idea either. However it is always best to seek advice if only to put your mind at ease.
