.... I'd be grateful if you could hold a dear friend of my dad in your thoughts at 10 am on Tuesday next week.

A lovely, kind man called George died on the Tuesday before Christmas. He had not been well for a long time, spent the last 13 months in hospital, and my dad has been his only visitor in all that time.

On Tuesday 18th at 10 am it is his funeral, and I am rather sad that there may only be three of us there. I may be wrong, and the announcement in the paper may bring others, but to know that some of you were thinking of him would be such a help.

I hope you don't think I'm cheeky to ask for a different kind of 'pocket duty' but he really was a lovely, gentle, kind and caring man, and he deserves a good send-off. We'll certainly do our best.

    That is ok Wonks, I don't mind the pocket duty luv.. I will however need reminding nearer the time, I have no memory to speak of..

    My Granda's funeral is being held on Wednesday 19th :( Such a sad week next week :(

    Oh wonky, the world can be a very lonely place for some, often those that least deserve it. I am sure that George deeply appreciated the visits from your dad, and of course I will be there 'in spirit'. I have made a note, and I will remember. DD

    will be with you in thought give your dad a big hug it is so sad when people out live there peer group they can be lonley so glad he had your dad

    Right - quick update before we set off tonight.

    there will be more need of pocket duties please! :shock:

    Can't say exactly why, but I now know that there will be more than the three of us there, so it could be a tough time. Or it could be fine ..... I won't know till it happens.

    Thanks everyone ...... & I'll not be on here till late TUesday or Wednesday depending on time we get home tomorrow. ( I can read the forum on my phone but not post for some reason!)
