Hi,
I was sent to a different hospital today for my MRI....same authority.
I've usually had a mobile MRI...this was in the hospital.
I lay down and he put ear plugs in  Anyone else ever had that??
I've always had ear defenders {large ear muff things} most times there has been music and even though you can still hear the noise it's bearable.
This time.....might as well have had nothing in my ears....this is the 5th one I've had so its not as if i didnt know what to expect :o
If I have to have another one I'll make sure its not that hospital. I did ask him why no ear defenders....it depends on the make of the MRI machine.......because of the make of this one there is no room for ear defenders :?
Love
Hileena

    Hi Everyone
Thanks for you coffees  and your sympathy.
Heather....pay no attention to that.....I've had 5 MRI's now and thats the first bad one I've had.
All the others ...I've {and I think most of the others here} have had ear defenders and usually some music as well ...you can still hear the noise but you are disctracted.
I thought I knew what to expect having had a load before but this was different. Simply ......I'll ask in advance when I'm told about an MRI if will they find out if they use ear defenders...if they do its a great tool if they dont...well I've still got a splitting headace  but I'll live

    Hello Hileena

Sorry this was a difficult MRI but glad it is over with. I have had one with ear defenders and music, and one without - and I agree it is much more bearable with music to distract you.

Hope you get some results soon and hope your headache gets better quickly.

    Hi Tilly
Thanks, I've had it withe ear defenders but no music....but these things were little cheap ear plugs that they put in and then throw away {that shows how cheap they are} so they wer no use...never mind..its over and I'm sure my head will clear

Blimey Hileena that's not very good. The worse one I had was at a BUPA hospital, no music and ancient headphones that did nothing. You don't realise just how loud those MRI machines are until that happens do you.

Still it's all over now so you can relax with that cuppa and hopefully get some good (or not so bad) results.

    Xx

    Hi
Apparently it will take 10 days for the results to get to my consultant then we'll see where things go from there

I've had three MRIs so far and have only been offered ear defenders. The noise was interesting (albeit a tad on the loud side) but I clearly remember my feet getting cold as they were stuck out the other side of the 'doughnut'. I am glad to hear that all went well, Hileena, and I hope you hear about the results sooner rather than later. DD

When I had my first MRI I had headphones with music, but to be honest the noise was so loud the music doesn't really help.

The hardest thing that I found was the lying still for 20mins, its really hard to do! lol

    Thanks all,
I've recovered now  and he said it would be about 10 days before the consultant got the results. So I've made a mental note and if I dont hear within about 2 weeks from te consultant I'll ring his secretary.

    Love
