Pub singers

Ye Gods I see nothing changes in lovey land then does it, the line-up for the queens gig was a mixed bag of the same old farts who should have retired back in the 1980’s, as usual the boringly familiar bunch turned up including as always Paul “I can’t sing” McCartney, he effectively sounded like a drunk man stamping on puppies, he just can’t get the notes these days. And our second queen sir Elton John was a gin soaked mumbling pub singer as normal, “gwoodbwah Normojeen-thooo hi nevah nue hue adoll” etc etc.
And Cliff obviously needs to get his teeth sorted out as he whistles when he tries to sing these days, maybe he’s had to many face lifts either way he was no great shakes and his skin looks like old mummified parchment these days!. But it gets worse, in the Telegraph today it say’s McCartney is now booked to close the Olympic games!.
Jesus not exactly thinking outside the fecking box now is it?, what about letting Adel get the gig for Christ sake?.

We didn't watch the concert, none of the line-up appealed. I suppose the idea (if there was one) was to try and cover all the decades of her reign, and if so then perhaps they succeeded. Poor woman, having to sit through that dreary event. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I remember, a few days ago, waking up to hear our local radio station interviewing some chap who had clearly been organising some concert for the jubilee and had had an interview with the queen beforehand. He said he'd prepared himself well with all the info on all the acts bur all she was interested in was what time it finished. I kind of warm to her.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Mell
I was saying the same only you are better with words ....when Paul McCartney was on I was just wishing that John Lennon could have been there...and Elton sounded like he had throat probs...but I must say our Tom Jones put on a good show...and Robbie Williams...brilliant..
Oh just another point dont you think that madness sounded quite bored with it all... :?Love

Tom Jones was brilliant as usual, but what about Ruby Turner with Jools Holland, excellent!0

Hi Barbara Madness were like they were just going through the motions weren’t they, might be they were pissed off with all the other old farts around them, back stage must have smelt of wee and liniment, Elton probably had something unmentionable at the back of his throat if you ask me that’s why he sounded so naff, oddly he’s always like it he mushes all the words together feck knows why?, Robby William’s wasn’t bad or should that be Robby Will I am’s??, anyway Steve Wonder was OK as was Shirley Bassey, but Cheryl Cole was pants and as for the real Will I am he certainly bloody well isn’t what he thinks he is and that’s a singer the daft **** all he does is talk!, the woman in black eyed peas has all the talent if you ask me.
And yes N D Tom was as good as ever, the only mistake he’s made recently was going on the voice but I guess it paid well, I’ve been told he now lives down the road from here in the village where I was born, his mansion is only a few hundred yards from my parents old house, he’s got some big steel gates up on the driveway in and they are bloody horrendous things they are.
But as for MacCartney, "live and let!" STAMP STAMP STAMP on those puppies!.
Is it me or does he look slightly like a stand in from a zombie horror film, I also imagine he smells strongly of Formaldehyde these days!.0 -
I watched it all trying to spot rover in the crowd did you see him. Anyway being a scouser i thought Macker would be good but Stevie wonder sto;e the show for me. Madness quite good and the fireworks where grrrreeeeeeat
wish the whole thing carried on throughout the week did you watch the service in St Pauls it was fantastic and the choice of music fab.

I'll watch the few highlights when we get back. McCartney never could sing, I hate nobbie.williams, madness are old hat now, can't stand will-i am a pillock.. Not a singer by any standard.
Sir Tom still has an incredible voice.. Her majesty Elton should just give in to old age and buy an old folks home to move into..
Adele would have really got the crowds going but I suppose most of her songs aren't really jubilee celebration material..
I saw a bit of the ceremony when the Queen was in the carriage with jug lugs and horse monster. Lizzy looked wonderful. God bless her.. Long may she reign.

Sir Tom Jones and Dame Shirley Bassey......Total respect.
Little Kylie was great. Robbie too. Would have loved to see Adele there, but she`s bit of a verbal loose cannon allegedly, so maybe too much of a risk.
I imagine that very few of todays "stars" will even be performing publically when they are in their sixties/ seventies, so again....respect to em all for their efforts.
Gary Barlow did a fantastic job organising it all. Will we be seeing "Sir" GB in the New Year Honours?.......Rosie.0 -
Kylie!!!, GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR0

Mellman, you were spot on with your comments. Cringingly awful. Why doesn't someone tell them to stop?
Then, of course, there's Grace Jones and her hula hoop.......???
I hope the comment about Paul McCartney closing the Olympic games is not true. I may have to have a duvet day. :oops:0 -
If that load of rubbish didn't finish her off , guess nothing will ! Jillyb0

I got it slightly wrong cranky, it's in the telegraph and he's doing a gig at the end of the opening so they say, it's crazy, we have so much tallent and all they can come up with is him as usual, there seems to be a clique in the BBC, whenever anything big is done they roll out the same old bunch of celeb’s, take children in need, McCartney is always hanging around somewhere like a bad smell, you’ll also see McFly, Blue and take that do a song or two, McFly are famous for feck all apart from always being on the program, Wogan actually gets paid to host it as well.
Sorry rant over!.0 -
Wogan takes a fee to do Children in Need!!!!! That`s awful if it`s true. I thought he did it out of the goodness of his heart, for the kids.....Rosie.0

Just seen this...Funny
and so true Mel.
But hope like Rosie that Macca will not be closing the games.
I think he tried to re do the emotional close he managed on Live Aid many years ago.
Surely he must watch it back and think 'I think I'm past it now'.Ruby0 -
Del spot on mate so true oh so true, and yeah ruby I know what you mean, if he doesn't look at replays he bloody well needs to that's for sure, I think though that they get addicted to being on stage and glad handed each time they turn up, they end up like worn out prize fighters and don't know when to call it a day.
We have so many new and diverse acts these days and ones that made it on their own but they never get a sniff, I blame corperate control, tuen into BBC radio 2 these days and you'll find the play list is awful, they have turned into a comercial station here in Oxfordshire I listen to Jack FM they play much better tunes, Radio 2's listeners average age is 45 so why do they play bad chart music?.
They also always have an interview with some celeb who's flogging a book or CD same goes for the awful one show, they are actually helping these people advertise their latest money spinner, way to comercial these days if you ask me.0
