FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS.

Since joining the Forum, I have realised how very lucky I am, compared to many of you. A successful TKR last year sorted out the OA in my left knee, and until recently, that was it.
I now find that I am getting pain in other joints, which I kind of expected, and it is manageable..ish, for now. What I don`t quite understand is the fact that I am also getting flu like symptoms - sort of general aching, not specific to any part of the body - when it`s at it`s worst. This is leaving me feeling totally debilitated.
I have read that this is a symptom of RA, but am wondering if it also applies to OA.
This Arthur business is a bl**dy minefield, and I would appreciate any help....Rosie.

That to me sounds like par for the course with any form of arthritis. We are probably not the ones to ask - do you fancy a trip to your GPs? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Rosie
This is the one thing I cant get my head around, Im so glad you mentioned it.
I have OA in the hips and back, but recently my hand and neck have joined in ,these flu like symptoms I have mentioned to my GP...who isn't interested,
the only way I can explain it is, I feel drain and quite weak, and lots of my joints are sore, and I just dont know where to put myself, I did see a rheumy a couple of years ago, but the appointment didnt go very well, he was in an hurry to get away,
I will be interested to see if you get any answers, the nearest I have got is inflammatory Arthritis.
You take care and I am so glad your TKR went so well xxLove

Sorry, Rosieglow, but I'm with DD. Yes, it can be par for the course with RA (which is my speciality  ) but it can be due to other stuff too. I'm afraid it's the dreaded doc's for you, my girlIf at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks for the replies. Another - daft! - symptom has joined the party today. What I can only describe as a "clicking" in my head. Not the sort of "cracking" that you get when moving your head too quickly. This is inside my head.
I think DD and SW are right. It`s the old GP dance for me. Thanks....Rosie x.0 -
Now you have to go
I vaguely remember once having something similar and I also vaguely remember it might have been connected with the anti-inflams but that's all far too vague, Rosieglow. get thee to the doc's.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Well RosieGlow, what happened? What did he say? DD
PS Sorry christinac47, I cannot help with your problem - I think it's one for your doctor.Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi Rosie I know only to well that feeling as do many of the others. It can be a sign of a flair up as the inflammation in your body caused by the arthritis can make you feel this way. Sometimes the Flu feeling is worse than the arthritis but I’m afraid as DD says it goes with the territory. However I would recommend that you just have a chat with your GP to rule out anything you might have like a bug or something. Dont know what meds your on but your immune system can be low this can also make you feel flu like.
Take care Rosie
