I had a wrist fusion to my right arm of which i'm right handed, this was due to imflatory artritsis. Surgery was in Dec 2010 this went wrong, the alna nerve was damaged, the alna head was removed and alna bone was stabilised using the darrecks procedure, I have ongoing nerve pain form this crushing of the nerve, if this wasnt enough the plate inserted has gived me onging pain and swelling , called Tenosynovitis so 8 days ago I underwent surgery to remove the plate hopefully to fix the tenosynovitis, since then I have had ongoing bleading from the wound and lots of bruising that looks like internal bleeding, So i'm not to comfortable with it all its hard enough with arthritis pain let alone this, and wonder why me, the fusion was surpose to be strait froward, A'm I the only one ? help I'm getting sick of it all and wonder why should i carry on living like this ?????????

This is awful, you poor thing I cant imagine how you must feel,I know they warn us that things can go wrong but we never expect them to,with all that has gone wrong in your case I would be thinking of getting another opinion.
I do hope that someone else comes along very soon with more help, I do know we have one lady that had two new wrist, but she hasn't been on for a while.
You take care , and if anything stay with us at least you can have a really good rant xLove

Why should you 'carry on living like this?' I don't think you should, pgtrading. First of all, please don't just accept 'ongoing bleeding' from your surgery. Ring the ward you were on, tell them about it and ask what you should do. If they're no help, see your GP. There is bound to be some internal bruising but I'm pretty sure you should not be bleeding out still.
Were you given any reason for the original op failing? Did you have any any particular health or med problems that might have made it more difficult than it should have been? I find it quite breath-taking that so much has gone wrong without, apparently, any reason given. Have you thought of contacting your local P.A.L.S.?If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

this sounds really horrible and really sore. i have no advice to offer you at all except to contact the ward doctor like others have said.
i hope you get this resolved and get some pain relief too. keep us informed and this is an interesting case and as arthur is good at affecting wrist etc it might come in handy for other people to know.
good luck x0 -

Thank You all for your support, No reason was given for the surgical mishap except to say the surgeon has been very supportive and applied for ACC (Accident compensation corporation) medical misadventure for me, this has now been accepted by ACC after 18 months of investigation into the injury. Going forward with ACC approval means any damage i.e if the nerve is permanently damaged this will be documented and there may well be a compensation claim once this has been established. I've made an appointment with my GP for Monday so i'll update after this.[link removed]0

Hi all just an update, I had the dressing changed and apart from alot of brusing the removal of the plate to heal the tenosynovitis condition has gone well and my hand theropist feels good about the outcome for the future result
so I'm pleased, just the repair to the nerve damage to go now .
thanks again for your support Peter0 -
That sounds much better, Peter, and thanks for the update. Onwards and upwards, eh?If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
