Had my elbow injection today

It hurt  Told to rest it for 48hrs and then resume normal activities.
I am right handed, so it will be interesting as it is my right elbow!

It has made me a little nervous about my back. I hope the injection works.

How is everyone else?

Yes, I can see it might well hurt, Suzygirl. I have a theory, based on no medical knowledge whatever, that, the smaller the joint, the more it will hurt. Having said that, I've found spinal jabs for operations OK.

It's actually quite hard to rest an arm, especially the one you use most. You keep catching yourself trying to use it, if only for something minor. When absolutely necessary, I used to tie a scarf together, throw it over my neck and use it as a sling. That way, at least I had to think before I could use the arm and wasn't just using it absentmindedly.

    I do hope it works.

(Apart from the-foot-I'm-not-thinking-about, I'm fine, thanks.)

The better you rest that arm the better the outcome may be so that's the thought to hang on to! Seriously, I hope it isn't too sore and that it helps. Take care. DD

Thanks Sticky, for your tip. I haven't read about your foot, I have been absent for a few days. I shall have to have a catch up!

DD, I am trying to rest it. It is throbbing now and my shoulder and wrist are irritated by it and my fingers are tingling/numb. I wonder if it worse as I am off steroids now? My temp is going up, hoping its a flare and not infection.

I feel like a right baby making a fuss, but my shoulder and hip were fine,no probs.

You're not making a fuss. You've just had a needle shoved into a tender bit and liquid inserted in a gap that probably wasn't quite big enough  And now everything's protesting.

At the risk of trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs, try to relax the arm, Suzygirl. Some of the protest might be tensed up muscles (wondering what's going to happen next  ) Get comfy any way you can and then stay there. (())

It's probably best to rest your arm on a cushion or a pillow, keep up with the dullers and things will settle in time. It's a pain quite unlike the others, isn't it? Oh - and don't come on here too much! DD

    Hi suzygirl,

I echo the above - make sure you rest it well. I don't think you are being a baby either. Pain is pain.

Do you know if you can have some sedation for your back? I think it is unusual to do it with no sedation, but I am not totally sure.

I hope you feel better tomorrow and certainly by Wednesday.

Hello suzygirl, how are things today? I hope the pain has subsided at least a little (though preferably a lot) and that you are able to keep resting that arm. DD

Morning, thanks for the support. I have been resting it on a pillow, which helps along with a pain relief gel. It seems to have irritated the whole arm, which I wasn't expecting.

Hubby and my boys have been so lovely, taking care of me. I am very fortunate. Going to take it easy to day as well.

Frogmella, sedation just isn't an option for the back injections. I am still waiting for a date.

Hi Suzygirl - I'm sure you will start to feel some relief from the pain soon, had one in my ankle once, it hurt at the time but did bring relief later - take care and look after yourself.
    gentle hugs - Sue

Thinking of you Suzy - and hoping the injection helps - and that the side effects pass quickly for you.
