I had root nerve injections when they diagnosed spinal stenosis and they havent worked.....have to go back on Wed to see the back specialist.
I know there isnt much they can do at my age.....certainly not an operation....but dont know what he is going to come up with this time???? :?

Hileena..I will there for you...Im not sure how old you are but Im 62 and my back consultant offered to do an op,but he did warn me that its sought of 40 percent chance of working apparently when it does work it is brilliant ....... I will have everything crossed for you that xxLove

Hi Barbara
One of these days they will sort it out for us......is it our backs or our hips lol I'm a bit older than you....... 66 to be exact.
When he was telling me about the things that could be done....he mentioned operation.....then at the end of it all he said I do have to tell you everything. The operation is a very high risk one....much higher than your THR. Between 19 and 25 years old its very successful but after that what we do {he was laughing} is book 2 beds in intensive care....I looked at him.....he said ...one for the patient and one for the surgeonby the time he has finished
So I think I'll cope without the op

Count me in as well.
You may not remember me but your posts were so very helpful to me when I was coming to terms with having to retire early and living with arthritis.
Just because one specialist/consultant dismisses, jokes etc. do not allow that to prevent you getting the the best treatment for youself.
Take care x0 -
Morning Madonna
Even if the consultant hadnt said that I dont think I was happy about a spinal operation of any kind.....Think I probably mentioned that when I was going to see him the first time.
I'll see what he says......

Thanks Sticky and Phoebe.
I rang his secretary up when I hadnt heard from anyone {it had only been about a month} she knew nothing about appointments so put me through to the appointments section who gave me an appointment {earliest} towards the end of January.
I rang the secretary back.....not to complain...just to bring her up to date. I got a call about 2 hrs later.....She had got me an appointment in a weeks timeThis was last Wed. Aren't consultants secretarys wonderful

Hi Hileena. I'm a 'bit' older than you. I too am very concerned about a back operation and will not even consider it. I know that they are very 'high risk' and the success rate is not particularly good and, for me, the thought of possibly(?) being less able to do things than I am now is not something I am willing to consider. However, I admire anyone who does choose to have the op and for lots of people it is obviously the right choice to make.
Do hope your consultant's appointment goes well and you are able to get some help.
Beryl0 -
I'll come along as well to support you, hope you have a good appointment0

Hi Hileena,
I'll be in your pocket on the 14th.
I hope all goes well.
