    Thank you so much for your kind birthday messages, and thank you to my dear friend Tony for starting the thread.

    So far I've had a brilliant day. After being thoroughly spoiled with presents and cards this morning, I was taken out for lunch at a lovely pub near Ashbourne in Derbyshire. There I had game, cranberry and red wine casserole, with herby dumplings and fresh veg- real comfort food and very yummy! :D

    My best friend is about to arrive for cake and glass of sherry, so I'm looking forward to that. Also, I will talk to my son in Canada later this evening on Skype. He is 8 hours behind us, so 8pm is 12 noon for him.

    Altogether a great day, made even more enjoyable by the lovely people on here :D

    Thanks Val. You aren't late at all- I haven't cut the cake yet, so I'll keep a slice specially for you. It's a chocolate fudge cake from Wait***e so should be good :D

    Once again many thanks to everyone on here who has taken the time to wish me a happy birthday; you are all very kind.

    My day was made complete when I spoke to my son in Canada on Skype this evening. I'm missing him dreadfully, but at least the computer brings him a little closer and it's good to see him looking so well and happy.
