Hi does anyone who is on Methotrexate suffer with Insomnia? I would give anything to have a decent 6 hours or even 5!!!!!

I am also taking Anto depressants, Meloxicam for pain and Tramadol for headaces but not all of these at the same time.

I don't know how to work, I sit in an office with no air, no windows and my legs ache all day, I can't stop yawning today and I just want to be lying on my bed!

Please help (getting more tired by the day)

    Hi
I'm on methotrexate but suffered insomnia before starting I also take amitripyline small dose at night as its supposed to help with pain so helps with sleep
Even so I still have the odd sleepless night
Have you spoken to your GP or Rheumy about this they may be able to advise what's best for you

I've always been lucky enough to sleep well (with the obvious, occasional hiccup) whatever meds I've been on - currently meth and hydroxy.

Maybe you should check this out with your GP, techiedeb, but I'm just wondering how you cope with such airless working conditions. Can you get some fresh air at lunchtime? What happens when you get home? If you fall asleep then (And it sounds as if you'd struggle to stay awake) you'll be unlikely to sleep well at night.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks to both of you for replying. I will speak to the doc. I do manage to stay awake when I get home from work and try to remain awake until quite late in the hopes I will sleep well. I've always suffered Insomnia but this past week has been worse than ever.

    Hello Deb
I dont think we have met so welcome from me...
I have OA ..and slept well for a couple of years...then it all stopped, so the pain clinic put me on Amytriptalines and I get a decent nights sleep on them..I know they always say try to get a natural sleep but the pain wouldn't let me...I do hope you can get something to help, you feel so much better after a good nights sleep..you take care x
    Love

    Hi Deb,

I've suffered with insomnia for years, well b4 any health problems!! I'm on Nortriptyline as an antidepressant as it also helps Neuropathic pain (fibromyalgia).

I have no idea y uve been given tramadol to help headaches tho, that's very odd!! I'd have expected them to try paracetamol, ibuprofen, Amitriptyline etc but not tramadol.

For ure aching legs I'd suggest doing sitting down leg exercises that you can get from ure physio or even online.

For sleep I'd eat a banana a few hours b4 bed, it needs to be fresh no black bits on tho. Also I'd try a relaxation cd. It can help quite well to wind you down & calm brain down :) I've found the body scan technique works best for me.

Good luck as I know how debilitating insomnia is.x

    Hello from me too.
There is nothing worse than lack of sleep but I find a good dose of fresh air helps. Airless working conditions sound less than ideal.
Personally if I was taking anti-deps and tramadol I'd be yawning all day too. If I can't sleep I just get up and make myself a drink/read a bit and it usually helps. Like it was suggested a trip to the GP might be a good idea but apart from sleeping tablets I really don't know what he/she could do.I'm wondering if you have a lot on your mind and can't switch off. This happens quite often to me.
