Benefit and Sickpay issue

Hi,
Just joined as I really need some advice from people who have probably been through what I'm going through at the moment.
I'm 26 and just very recently been diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis and gout. My feet, toes, back fingers and more recently my knees and left arm have been flaring up.
I'm currently on long term sick leave from work, my doctor immediately signed me off to try and helpe get to grips with different medication and for the fact I work in a bar/eatery so I'm constantly on my feet and using hands and bending, my last shift I done was 6 hours and when I went to sit and have lunch I struggled to get off the seat I was sitting in and ended up working the rest of my shift in seething pain.
I'm currently on Naproxen, Amitriptyline, Omeprazole and Allopurinol but these haven't been helping and I'm in pain until I take the Amitriptyline at night which sometimes doesn't even take the edge off the burning I get in my feet.
I received a letter when I first got signed off by my doctor from work to advise they couldn't pay me sick pay because I've not worked enough hours to be entitled to it, which I was a been skeptical about. I believe everyone is entitled to sick pay but a few circumstances which I wasn't listed under.
Anyway I called DWP and they went through a contributions based ESA claim with me, my partner works full time and stays with me so I wouldn't be entitled to the non contributions based. I called ESA today and my claim has been rejected due to not paying enough national insurance, I have been in between jobs and off sick more of less on and off for around 2 years because I've been suffering from arthritis and gout for 2 years and the doctors have not investigated it correctly (my bloods from two years ago showed high levels or uric acid and inflammation in my blood) so I haven't consistently paid national insurance or have paid reduced rate. We've applied for working tax credits and the claim was rejected too.
I'm wondering if anyone else has been in this situation who could maybe give me some help. I was going to apply for PIP but I'm still on the waiting list to see a specialist so I feel my application for it will end up being rejected, it really is a struggle to pay for living costs on one wage, I'm now at the stage where it's either pay rent or eat. Ive also applied for a crisis grant but they couldn't help me either, I feel like I'm just being passed about from person to person and not being told what happens next. Please help :(

Hi Rebekah, sorry to hear you are having so many problems. I don't know if you've already tried them but I wonder if Citizens Advice might be able to help?
It would also be an idea to get back to your GP to discuss what alternatives might be available to help with the pain. A different combination or different timings might make a difference.

I have just spoke to citizens advice who basically linked me with information I already have looked at. The two women I spoke to at ESA were so rude to me one even said "well look for a job then" I'm going to lodge a formal complaint about that. I'm going back to the doctors this week in hope that I'll get something else and beg for a set of crutches to help during the flare up's I've been getting. I am going to apply again for PIP but I'm afraid that because I haven't got my referral and information of the consultant I'll get a rheumatology and muscleskeletol that I don't have enough information to back my condition up.
