Hi Everybody

Can you tell me please whether I need to or should declare my blue badge when getting quotes for car insurance?

Currently on Compare the Market but there doesn't seem to be a question on it which makes me think I don't need to.

My arthritis (reason for my blue badge) does not affect my driving - just my walking.

:animal_busy:
(Chose this pic because I have a 19 year old Tortie Cat who just loves to sleep all the time now)

    Hello Ironman,

    Welcome to the forum!

I'm sure you don't need to declare a blue badge, I never have - and hope I've not been illegal all this time, confirmation will come soon, I'm sure.

I love cats too, one is asleep beside me now, almost camouflaged on the cream coloured throw on the settee, very trusting - and warm! Mind you she is only half way to being 19! Yours definitely has earned all naps possible.

I'm just putting a link to our latest 'Living with arthritis' booklet in case there are any new ideas for you.

    Take care

Hello, I've never used comparison sites for anything but neither have I told my insurers about the BB: I have told them about my arthritis (psoriatic and osteo) and had my insurance reduced/suspended when I cannot drive after knee operations (no replacements as yet) but that's all.

I renewed my car tax online and nowhere is there a box to tick to claim my exemption which is part of my DLA: that taught me a useful lesson about doing such stuff online: I don't, I far prefer talking to a human. Good luck, I hope you get a decent quote. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

DVLA consider Arthritis a 'Notifiable Condition' (the full list is available here - https://www.gov.uk/health-conditions-and-driving).

The Guardian had a good article regarding the issue (https://tinyurl.com/y9x229na).

    Hope this is of interest.
