Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹
Iโ€™m a newbie so please be kind to me!
Can anyone please answer this question, I had bloods taken recently and my rheumatoid factor has doubled from earlier tests I had a few years ago. They are sitting at 85. Can anyone please tell me if they are just a little bit high or really high??? Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ’™

Hello Nicky welcome to Versus Arthritis Community Forum

Of course we will treat you gently, you've come to the right place for help, advice and support. Quite a number of our forum users fall into your range of arthritis being rheumatoid, most of whom are in a position to answer your question.

I've found a link that may be of use to you:

Please feel free to phone the Helplines should you require any further advice, the phone number is at the head of the page.

    Enjoy the Forum.

    Hi Nicky,

Thank you for posting on our Helpline forum. It is understandable that you are concerned that your rheumatoid factor is raised. Your result does sound high, though just to clarify, we are not medically trained on the helpline. It would be good to talk this through with your GP, or specialist rheumatology nurse, if you attend a rheumatology clinic.

I am glad that John has already sent you a link which may be helpful.

The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) also provides useful information about blood tests and other investigations. See: https://www.nras.org.uk/laboratory-tests-used-in-the-diagnosis-and-monitoring-of-rheumatoid-arthritis

This link, provided by the NHS Choices website, may also help:
    https://labtestsonline.org.uk/tests/rheumatoid-factor

Iโ€™m not sure what type of arthritis you have. As John has suggested, if you would like to talk things through with one of our helpline team, informally and in confidence, you are welcome to give us a call between 9am and 8pm weekdays on our Free helpline 0800 5200 520.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Wishes,

    Fiona, Helpline Advisor
