hi everyone, I kinda joined a few weeks ago in a blind panick due to pain and I think i posted on the wrong page / forum. Anyway from the beginning.... Iv had RA for 14 years and to be fair im managing it well with my medication. I used to compete in body building and power lifting events and when I returned from a competition 2003 I wasn't feeling to good, i put it down to my training and possibly just being run down. Doctors said i had an virol infection, test and many year's later.. I was diagnosed with Rhumatoid Athritis. A total shockers for me..needless to say that ended my tyre flipping and car lifting days 🤭...I was able to still work full time as a nurse with the NHS and I'm still currently working today.(apart from Shielding at the moment). I have had 2 total knee replacements, one in May last year the other in January this year, that is the only time in my 28 years in nursing I have been off work, it was hard because I'm always on the go... anyway both were very successful and I'm back to being me again. (apologies for repeating myself as I've already wrote this next part last week but I think I added it on the wrong forum) i had what I thought was a flare up in my knee.. it was all swollen and sore, cut a long story short.. I was on my walking machine, walked about 6 maybe 7 miles and it was just a built up of fluid 🤨... I was told by my rhummy nurse that I'm still recovering which can take about 2 years, although you're only off work for 3 monthes if all goes well...
needless to say no more long walks for me lol..
Otherwise I'm all good now. Sorry for the long winded message, I hoped iv added it to the correct forum this time lol. If not I'm not repeatingit again... thank goodness says you who have already read it before lol...take care you all.. Jax🤗

I replied to you on LWA and then read that you had overdone it on the treadmill. I hope you haven't done a repeat performance - post-op learning curves are often steeper than expected. I haven't been pain free since 1997 and never will be which is oddly comforting! Take care and keep getting better. DD

Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Morning Chris. Err..am not sure which forum to post on to be honest there's so many, I guess this one is fine for now. My knee replacement went brilliant, apart for my own stupidity last week with the treadmill i haven't had any issues. My knees were the worst affected by my RA, the x-rays showed bone on bone. When I came around from the operation i couldn't believe how straight my legs were and almost pain free (i was kinda bow legged) ... i knew then that the replacement was an success. I heard loads of horror stories of unsuccessful joint replacements prior to mine, but I was in that much pain as the cortisone injection were no longer working I thought i had nothing to lose but to go for it. I would say im definitely back to me being me, I will not let RA get in the way of prity much anything i want to achieve. My medication keeps the rest of my affected joints which is my elbows at bay. I do however find if I'm writing a lot at work or on the computer, after a 12 hrs shift my hands are slightly swollen, but by the next morning there fine again.
Hope you're well and pain free.. take care jax
