New to the community

Hi my name is Sarah, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis about 15 yes ago now, after fighting with specialists at my local hospital, it started.in my knees and was told at first it was due to my past of horse riding, gymnastics and athletics, so a healthy life, my knees used to lock up constantly in high school and I worked hard to keep fit and healthy. I was told for years that i had wear and tear on my knee joints, I suffered with this for a lot of my adult life, until I met a wonderful specialist who turned my life back on its axis after telling me that what I had been getting told was just wear and tear was more than that as it was no longer just in my knees but had spread to most of my joints at this point I was only in my late 20's. Finding out it was Osteoarthritis really lifted a lot of stress, but I also found out I was also suffering from fibromyalgia which they believe was brought on by a riding accident i had at 17 where i damaged my spine. In my mid 30's I sent to see a specialist for what my GP thought was carpal tunnel syndrome and was unfortunately diagnosed with thick fibre neuropathy on top of everything else. I am now 40 yrs old and now have scoliosis and degenerative disc disease in my lower spine, fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, and osteoarthritis in pretty much all my joints, I.live in agony every day and have done since a child, I have learnt to just deal.with my life, I have a fantashusband and 2 wonderful boys. I am now starting to find life much harder and most days I have to use my electric wheelchair but hey it just another part of my life changing, I have a job I love as a pet nutritionist which I have managed to do due to my wonderful assistance dog Nuka, she is owner trained through the amazing Charity Dog Assistance in Disability (Dog A.I.D) who provided me with a trainer who helped me train my own dog to assistance with my specific disabilities. Nuka is a very special dog as she is the first Alaskan Malamute in the UK to become a fully registered ADUK/ADI assistance dog, she is nearly 5 yrs old now and so she is now helping me to train up her successor who is also a Malamute. These dogs have helped me change my life for the better and even lie on my body to help put pressure on the painful areas.
