Hello I’m new
Hi, I wanted to join and seek and offer support to others. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid when I was 17 (now 58). The last couple of years have been a struggle with knee replacements and I’m due surgery in Sept, mid foot fusion. Just wondered if anyone else has had this surgery. It would be great to try and meet others who understand daily tasks and tiredness. I do work full time but it wipes me out. I had been walking a lot last year with new knees but now my foot is bad it’s slowed me down so a bit fed up with that.
anyway, hi and look forward to hearing other people’s stories and see what events are on.
take care
Mandy

Hi @Mandz
Welcome to the online community! I'm sure that with so much experience of RA you'll be able to support plenty of other members around the forum. We're here for you too!
I'm glad to see that you've been able to go out doing lots of walking with your new knees, but sorry to hear that your foot is now causing you issues! There is a link below about foot and ankle surgery which may be of some use to you:
We also have these hints and tips for surgery prep and recovery, but you might be an old hand at this following your knee surgery anyway:
Well done you for continuing to work full time. I know how much you will need to push yourself to do this some days- its a tough thing to do- but remember to take time out for yourself and allow a little rest when you need it!
I do hope to see you around the community, take care,
Sarah

Mandy I’ve just been diagnosed with knee OA (very mild) and you’re an inspiration with your replacements and full time work! I’ve already had a THR, dreading the potential future TKR, but I’m amazed and impressed you’ve done two and kept to full time work (even with a bad foot), how amazing!

Welcome to the online community, good to see you posting.
You say you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia over the phone but was unhelpful so you are feeling lost at the moment.

Hi Peppercorn
thank you, you will be fine and as you are probably aware it’s hard work in the beginning, I soon learnt not to push myself and concentrated on the ice and elevate in the beginning and then the rest followed. Please don’t worry about a future TKR. It’s sounds as though you have done really well with your hip I hope it has helped you. Take care.

Hi Chris, it’s so daunting in the beginning. Have you been given a practitioner to call if you need to? The hospitals normally have help lines to call if you are struggling and I have to say they have been brilliant for me over the last few months. It might be worth asking your specialist? Good luck.

Thank you Sarah, I will have a good look at these as the foot Opmis the one I’m dreading the most and a much longer recovery due to non weight bearing and I have stairs at home 😳.
