Osteoarthritis

Hi I have Osteoarthritis and had a total knee replacement "Just want to say my new knee is brilliant " I have to have my other knee done but the consultant has said i need to get over the first one before he will do it ,I think i am getting Osteoarthritis in my wrists and fingers and also have it in my left foot, I feel as if i am a pain going to the doctors about this - Please can anyone give me some advice on how to control or stop this horrible thing X

Hello @BUCKAROO , welcome to the online community

You have had a successful TKR which you describe as brilliant and are hoping to have your other knee done soon. You also have OA in your wrists, fingers and foot and are concerned that you are a pain going to the doctor about this. GPs are there to deal with our health concerns, your recovery and increased quality of life since your knee replacement shows what a significant difference the medical profession can make to our lives for which we should all be very grateful. Research, for Arthritis in its many forms is striving hard for a cure but meanwhile we in the community are here to support all of those who deal with it on a daily basis. So do take time to browse round the discussions and activities and join in with your own tips pre and post operation, hobbies etc.

Hi @BUCKAROO so glad the first knee op went well. As poppyjane says exercise is a good way to help keep the symptms at bay. I have osteo in my hands and have a stress ball I use when I am working, just to keep the hands moving. A little but often works for me.
