Covid booster
Hi
just wondering about the covid vaccine. I have my flu jab booked in for next week.
just finishing a course of steroids, and I am now on full dose of Sulphasalazine.
I am anxious about having the 4th covid booster, as my RA diagnosis came about shortly after my 3rd booster. I did discuss it with the nurse couple of weeks ago whilst having my two weekly blood tests, as I have only been taking the Sulphasalazine for a few weeks.
I could really do with some feedback. Thanks team.

I think this is one for your rheumatology team. I've no problems but I've been on methotrexate for years and my RA is stable. Good luck
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi@Woofy
I'm not completely sure what your concern is about your Covid booster. Having these is important if you have Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Depending on the timing and dose of the steroids your Rheumatology Team may suggest waiting for a short time before having a booster to ensure the best response from your immune system, but that's for them to say.
Have you been able to speak to your Rheumatology Nurse Specialist?
If you'd like an informal chat about the situation, you'd be most welcome to ring us here at the Versus Arthritis Helpline on 0800 5200 520.

Thank you.stickywicket.
All this pain started shortly after my 3rd booster last year.
my life has completely changed since then. I am just scared. I’ve now finished the course of steroids I was given, and already the pain is returning. I am just feeling miserable right now. (Sorry)I

Hi team. I’m just scared because all the pain started after my 3rd booster last year.
I am scared that’s all. I recently finished the steroids I was prescribed, and already the pain is returning.
I am taking my sulphasalazine but it will take a while to kick in. I am just feeling miserable and overwhelmed right now.
I don’t want to feel like a nuisance to anyone anymore. I just want my happy self back.😢

Hi Woofy,
Thank you for posting on our helpline forum, we are sorry to hear about your concerns of having the covid booster, but it is understandable especially after what happened with the 3rd vaccine.
Having the covid vaccine is important for many people but it is also the individual's choice if they continue to have the vaccine, speaking to your Rheumatology Nurse Specialist can help and discussing working round your treatment to coincide with having the vaccine can also help put your mind at ease.
If at any point it would help you to talk things through informally and in confidence to one of our Helpline advisors about how you are feeling you are more than welcome to call our Free Helpline on 0800 5200 520 weekdays 9am – 6pm.
Best wishes

Yesterday I have spoken to the Rheumatology nurse.
she has put my mind at rest over Covid jab. I also know it’s ok to have whilst I continue on my medication.
also introducing a low dose of Naproxen again, has eased the pain today.
feeling reassured. Thanks Team.
