Hello @bambi45 and welcome to the Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.

There are quite a few discussions on this on the Community - you can search using the magnifying glass at the top of the page, but I searched on Apos and got the following results:

Have a look through and hopefully you can find some useful tips from it.

    Best wishes

    Peter

Have you read this @bambi45 ?

It's expensive but if you met the criteria maybe you can have it on the NHS?

If you do give it a go do let us know how you get on. It might help someone else in future who come in asking.

Hi Toni, my initial query might have been misleading, sorry. I did try the Apos therapy a few years ago as an alternative to the TKR the doctor said I would by needing in the future. On reflection I wonder if I didn’t give the treatment a fair trial. I gave up at the ninth month owing to a complete knee collapse walking down stairs . I visited A&E in a wheelchair in excruciating pain , had X-rays,no treatment sent home on crutches. I informed the Apos people ,informed them as to what had occurred and cancelled my next appointment . Didn’t hear from them , no enquiries as to how I was recovering, not interested as I had paid for the treatment in advance £2500. This hurt my feelings as much as the knee pain ,so decided not to continue with Apos therapy….Thanks for the information …I found it a bit confusing in some parts as to whether the Apos therapy is successful long term. I don’t think it will be an alternative to TKR on the National Health in the near future.

@bambi45 never tried it. What I have tried is working out if I know the safe working loads for all my joints. My legs handle my weight at 95kg for short shuffles round the office, but I stood up in a hurry last week carrying a 6kg suitcase and it did my left knee and hip in for a few days. I think that joint loading is critical in arthritis and the line between comfortable and painful is so easily crossed.

You might never know there is a comfort zone until you tried finding one. I would say live and learn.

Gosh that was an awful response (or should I say lack of!) from the apos people after you had paid so much and were using their treatment. I am quite shocked.

I agree people's individual experiences aren't easy to interpret which is why more of us need to talk about what we try and what works.

    I hope you're doing ok

Well I can’t say I felt much improvement with the Apos therapy anyway, otherwise I may have carried on with it after I got back on my feet . Since then I’ve tried one thing after another, vitamins, creams, knee pain guru exercises, cortisone injection. At the moment I’m considering having the arthrosamid injection although it is not available on the NHS. as yet. That is one of the reasons I came on here looking for others experiences of it . From what I can gather the outcomes seem to be mixed , so I guess it’s a expensive gamble. Maybe I should just give in and join the waiting list for TKR .
