Newly diagnoses

Hi everyone hope you are all well. I was recently diagnosed just before my 50th Birthday. I. Was absolutely devastated as I had much more I want to do. I’m still trying to work through the daily pain and my mental health has taken a nose dive as I worry about how long I can work for and what the future holds. Glad I have found this site as I found google gave me the worst advice and horror stories!!

hello. The Doctor didn’t say what type of arthritis it is she was quite flippant just saying I had it and that was it. As I was in shock at the diagnosis I just left it there. I do have an appointment with doctor on the 25th where I will ask some questions as the news has sunk in.

Definitely the pain takes a while to understand and diagnose what's really causing it so the sooner you know the better.

The problem with the internet it can't do any investigating so I am not surprised its a bit frightening. I found knowing where it hurts is important so I can learn how to go gently on it as soon as possible.

    Hello @wicksy

I'm glad you have an appointment with the GP soon - now that the shock is over you will need to ensure you gather as much info from them as you can. This subject on our website is really useful:

Can you tell our community where the arthritis/pain is? Is it in your knee, hip etc.? The members of our community have experience in almost every area 😀and I'm sure they'll have a lot to tell you.

Hi. Thank you. So far they say I have it in my knees and hands, I have a mri for my back in November. But since being told it seems all my joints want to get involved it’s very strange they all seem to ache now 😆

Thanks for the info @wicksy I'm sure our community will share some experience with you.

I know exactly what you mean. Once I was diagnosed I suddenly had all sorts of pains. I think you just start noticing thinks because, in a strange way, you're looking out for them - but I'm not a medical professional.
