Hi anybody gone back to work after being diagnosed with OA in left knee. I work as a carer on nights and I'm worried I wont be able to do my job when I come off the sick.

    I think it depends a bit on how heavy you are. My college a whisper of a person had no trouble gadding around, mind you, he was also Scottish.

    I carried on working, on the basis you have to move about, but I had to resort to shuffling and cut my distance down to a max of about 6k steps. Over time this has eased off but also, and perhaps more to the point, under xray did not show much loss of joint tissue.

    When I went to the gym I wasn't allowed to guess. I had to get those xrays and a physio to confirm its safe.

    Hi everyone I have decided to tell my manager tomorrow I'm leaving due to illhealth. I have seen my xray on my left knee and decided I cant do my care job anymore. Even if they offered me lighter duties eventually I would have to put pressure on my left knee. I Have to put my health first. Next year I will look for a small job part time maybe in a shop.

    Hi I have spoken to my manager she was understanding and agreed for me to leave due to illhealth today. It is such a relief. I'm trying now to claim universal credit. Let's see what happens

    Hi everyone I'm feeling low at the moment losing my confidence. Going to interview tomorrow for universal credit. Why cant life be plain sailing. My painkillers are seeming to work well together Ibrophfen and tramadol. I feel guilty not working now.

    Never feel guilty about looking after yourself, you are what counts. As far as your interview goes you have to present at your worst rather than at your best. If you have a pain diary, take it. If you have a big box of meds, take it and if you use a stick on your worst days, use it. If you can take someone who knows you and how. You're affected, take them too.

    Never ever feel guilty though.

    Thanks Trish for your advice. I was nervous at the interview they didnt ask me health questions. Instead asked me about my previous job history and what qualifications I have. I was unable to answer due to brain fog at first and stumbled over all the questions. I couldn't remember. Anyway now I'm just waiting to see how I go on getting universal credit. My husband is self employed. I have another one in November. They know I'm on the sick but I still have look for jobs etc.
