Knee replacement
Newbie here,
I will be having a Left knee replacement soon, going for my appointment with Orthopaedic consultant and pre op too next month. I will be getting my operation within the next 3 months. I have osteoarthritis in both knees, for the last seven years. Started with a bakers cyst on my right knee. I am still working as a nurse. Really struggling now. I saw various physiotherapists over the years, certain exercises made my legs worse. I was told I was too young for a knee replacement. Had to fight to see orthopaedic doctor and go on a waiting list (NHS) I'm looking for tips for pre op and post up please?

I had a TNR of the left knee two years ago. I did exactly and to the letter everything my consultant told me to do, and all what the physio told me what to do as well!
You have to! Otherwise you will be slow in getting back to normal. That’s the key to it all. The first 2 weeks are uncomfortable but then you will see a massive shift as long as you do the exercise etc you are given. Good luck with your op and keep us informed please.
Richie.

Thanks, I will do everything that I'm told to do. So I can get better mobility back. I will probably end up getting my right knee done too eventually. Onwards and upwards.

Hi Lorn, first of all how old are you? Let me tell you this I have had 2 knee replacements, 2 hip replacements and my left Ankle replaced!! Also my neck decompressed at 2 levels. I am 68 years old. Yes I am the bionic woman in real life lol you will be fine! I’m not going to lie it is painful but you will get through it! Just do as they say and do your exercises as they are very important. I walk my dogs everyday go on holiday with the girls go dancing and even went on the back of my cousins motor bike to Sherburn. So don’t let Arthritis win! You are the survivor!!

I'm 59, 60 in December. I know it will be worth it in the end, pain & exercises. I will gain more mobility & get my life back.
