PsA knee pain

I think you would be best to contact your rheumatology clinic and ask to be seen. They should be able to treat you with short term measures whilst your long term treatment kicks in - or is modified if needed.

In my case my PsA came on rapidly with initially my left knee, then my hands, shoulders and right hip joined in over a period of 6 weeks. It was almost a year before the treatment was modified to the point it worked. I was initially put on sulfasalazine which didn't work, then methotrexate was added and the combination didn't work and then the biologic adalimumab was added and the combination worked. During that time I was given steroid injections - initially into my joints but then they decided to give larger Kenalog steroid injections into my rear which spread through the body and dampened things down.

I'm not cured by any means but my pain levels are significantly lower than they were before a working treatment was found.

I know we are all different and the treatment we receive needs reflect this. Early on in my treatment I realised I needed to be more assertive as my then rheumatologist didn't see the urgency in finding a working solution for me. Having never suffered a chronic illness before I'd initially assumed the medical profession would pull out all the stops without me having to self advocate. I wouldn't make that assumption now.
