Hello, I'm new here …and very anxious about the result of the blood tests. Saw my GP a week ago as had quite severe pain in my right hip…. Had hip pain of and on for 18 months but in the last 8 weeks it has worsened a lot. GP has ordered a calcium blood test.

Wondered if anyone else had this test before diagnosis…or knows if this test is usually requested by GP.

Thank you for reading, looking forward to reading replies, seems a very helpful and kind community ☺️

Hello @YDBYDG and welcome to the online community,

Just to re-iterate the helpful advice from our Helpline Team about speaking with your healthcare professional - a calcium blood test measures the amount of calcium in your blood which can help diagnose various medical conditions, including issues with bones kidneys and thyroid. It would help if you could find out exactly why your GP has ordered the tests and may prevent you worrying too much.

    Best wishes,

Thank you for your advice. It's almost impossible to get an appointment with my GP these days, I have to wait now until middle of May, and I am a bit of a worrier. I'll keep trying to get an earlier appointment.
