Getting better with new hip, but a couple of questions!

Hello all, it’s been a while since I was on here, life got busy!!
My new hip was done on April 3rd, and I think I’m doing pretty well🙂 I’ve been good, and done my exercises, only missing an odd set if I’ve been tired or sore, and they’re paying off. I’m now walking about two and a half miles in a day - not all at once! Still using one crutch.

Indoors, I’m cutting down crutch usage to about half the time. Stairs are still an issue, still 2 feet on each step. Ive started doing operated leg first going up and down, not nice but I’m doing it. I have driven my car once, as my husband is away for a few days, I needed to know that I could do it. I was sore afterwards though☹️

I am still stiff in the new joint. My scar feels hard and bumpy in places, but I’m using Bio oil to massage it which helps. The muscles (presumably or tendons🤷‍♀️) right at the top of my inner thigh get really sore, after driving these were sore.
The new hip itself I can still definitely feel - like there is something there that shouldn’t be!! I’m not expecting miracles, but wonder when it will feel like it’s part of me and meant to be there? I’m still quite stiff in the mornings nut this improves after I’m up and have done first lot of physio then a walk.
So, time to get moving, thanks for reading

as long as you continue doing your exercises and walking daily then you are doing well. I am not sure about operated leg going upstairs as I was told only to lead with operated leg going downstairs and good leg going upstairs. I am now 11 months since my hip replacement and still need to pace myself, especially if I do some gardening. I also still feel sometimes the odd twinge but my scar is gradually fading and quite smooth and I rub moisturiser in daily. Also I still feel a bit stiff when getting up but do a few stretches which help. The positive side to this is that I am back to being more mobile than before and the awful pain has gone. Mind you I am not walking as much now as my other hip needs replacing and has slowed me down again, but hopefully this will be done sometime in July ( have had my pre-assessment a few weeks ago ). Anyway keep positive and remember you are gradually getting better day by day and please keep us all updated with your progress. Take care.🙂
