Having been off work for sooooooooooo long and pretty much unable to do anything other than eat, bother you lot, eat, watch telly, eat (you get the picture), I have been watching some of the kiddies programmes.
Well I was never really into the American stuff other than "Scooby Doo" and "Happy Days" but I can't get into "Hannah Montana" or "The suite life of Zack and Cody".
Is it that I'm getting old or is it that thet just don't make programmes like they used to?
Even some of the English stuff-"In the Night Garden"- what's that all about? It certainly is nothing on "The Herbs" or "Mary, Mungo and Midge" and who could forget "Trumpton"?
My littlest one likes to sit and watch "Mr Ben" and "King Rollo". So my question is- am I stunting her intellectual growth by not letting her watch these programmes?
Which programmes did you all watch? Answers on a postcard please.

my little one likes in the night garden i cant see why its aload of odd noises and people walking around saying there own name 20 times??? but she seems happy and it does keep her quiet, i recommend cbebbies its far more educational like they have a numbers programme etc etc. i think as long as there happy it doesnt matter and they are learning from it in lots of ways, colours, sound games other children noise music so i wouldnt worry too much. enjoy the peace!!

    Hi Guys
    I love kids TV!
Night garden is so sweet! Ahh! My kids are too old, but little cousins still love it!
Kate I still remeber the words to 2 of the song from the herb garden:
Dill the Dog and Bayleaf the Gardener!

Unfortunately Toni I can only remember the first line of Parsley's song. I was always a bit freaked out by Sage the wise old owl with his scratchy voice though. I think that's why I liked Parsley, he seemed so laid back!

    Hello,
My kids love Scooby Doo, Ben 10, Johnny Test, Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends (very strange, Blue is hilarious!) but their favourite is Charlie and Lola-which I think is really cute :)

    'I'm Dill the dog
    I'm a dog named Dill
my tail I'd love to get
but I've never caught it yet'

    'I'm Bayleaf I'm the Gardener
    I work form early dawn
You'll find me sweeping up the leaves
    or tidying the lawn'

Those are the two I remember... :(

Yes I do, but I was older and it was my wee brother who watched these. I loved 'Chorlton and the Wheelies'

Kate, Camberwick Green's flower seller was Mrs Cobbit!

I remember Muffin very well - we lived in the South-East when I was about 5 or 6 and Brighton was our holiday stamping ground. There was a Muffin ride just opposite the pier entrance - I used to have races with my brother on that!

I use to love watching kiddies tv when mine were little.
Had a very calming effect at bedtime and at times when I wanted to get cooking done.
Magic Roundabout was brill. Muffin the Mule and all those of the 70/80's period.
My son lets his brood watch too much tv. My daughter is the opposite. Only has a tv installed for Wii.
Loved teletubbies and still watch it when I can, also In the Night Garden. If it makes the little ones happy and quiet forawhile I'm all for it.

Well I loved Andy Pandy as a little girl....
The OH bought a 39 CD set of Camberwick Green, Trumpton and Chigley from a charity shop for a fiver.
