THR hindsight insights please!

Now I have a date for my THR, (15th April, since you ask) I am wondering what all of you who have had this done wish you had known about first.

What were the things you didn't expect about the whole process - whether it is frustrations, practicalities, other people's responses, good, bad or surprising things? :?:
