Hi
Have just finished eventful week. Have been having problems controlling arthur since before Christmas (PA and OA in my hands and wrists).which was affecting every part of my life. I have great employers who have done everything posable to make my job easier, I am a secretary but I had come to conclusion that carrying on was no longer an option so was finishing on Friday to concentrate on controlling arthur. Tues was my 47th birthday so was feeling useless etc. Saw GP about pain relief and nausea, was asked if I minded med student being present, said no so I told my tale of woe to him (poor thing) GP said that arthritis is never the same so listening to what the patient was telling you is more important than textbooks in deciding on how to treat. Also as I would have to move up to MST, she was able to explain how starting dose is calulated and monitored. Came out feeling useful., went onto work for my last day, didn't realise how many people were upset on my behalf on having to finish coz of arthur, so very tearful, loads of flowers cards good wishes. I will not feel useless, I will get arthur under control and have a life again. Even the weather is being positive Spring is here. :D

Well done on making that difficult decision about work-that's very brave. I admire your positive attitude and your belief that things will improve-and you're right, they will. Good luck with everything, take care.
    Kind regards,
    Josie

Hi and a belated Happy Birthday. I'm glad you feel so posative, and being useful is more than just working! I'm facing being medically retired at 53, (well it'll be 54 by then, as I have a birthday soon :) ).Hope you get things under control soon. Love Sue

    Hi there
Hope you had a good birthday. It a difficult adjustment when you have to give up your job but it is amazing that sometimes when you are forced to do something a whole lot of other opportunities open up. It sounds like you are well on the way to coping with it.
    All the best

Thanks for your support and birthday wishes. I stopped taking my tramadol, solpadol combination and started on MST Friday night. Sunday morning instead of feeling like a zombie, my mind was clear the fog had gone, wish I changed earlier.
I am sorting out Benefits at present, so far so good.
This is a fantastic site, I am so glad I found it and recommend it regularly. thanks to everyone who posts or replies Fay :D:D

I'm glad you're so positive and things seem to be working out for you after what sounds like a very hard time.

You've got more time to come on here and chat to us now ... every silver cloud and all that :-)

    Hi,
And a belated Happy Birthday from me n035.gif

I am currently off work as my job is quite physical and I know I coudn't do it at the moment but, oh! I do not intend to give it up because of 'arther'- not without a damned good fight.

But if I DO have to finish - well I've worked hard all my life so maybe I'll enjoy having time to 'smell the roses' :) ..... and if I get bored theres aways voluntary work to be done.

Do try and keep in touch with your workmates - have coffee with them at lunchtimes, or maybe arrange evenings out? No need to lose them along with the job is there!

Good luck, and enjoy a bit of 'me' time!

    Jackie x
