Embarassing but has anyone had this after strong antibiotics

I am relieved to hear that you did not wait until Friday. I bet you nearly landed on the ceiling too. You poor thing. Anusol is an ointment that can be bought over the counter, I recognise the name. Nearly always have some of that knocking about in the cupboard. :roll: You never know when someone may need it. I do hope that helps and starts to kick in soon. I am sure the gp was very sympathetic and I am also sure from how you describe what you have been through that you would not wish this on your worst enemy. Those antibiotics definitely played havoc with you so I do hope they did their good works too on whatever they were given for.

I hope next time we hear from you, you are the happiest of people because it will all be cleared up.

Thanks again everyone, I was bad yesterday afternoon that I had to go back and the dr has now gave me some Betnovate cream which has a potent steroid in it and have to use this with the anusol cream.

The dr said if its not showing signs of easing off a week on monday then he said it may need referring to hospital to have a camera in to have a look around. It seems that they are throwing everything at this but its not going away lightly. I really dont want to have the camera it will agrivate everything.

I am having a bad time with this and still no signs of getting better

I cant get on with things and its been 8 days now it has just got to get better, I am thinking of not eating anything now and just give my bum a rest for a day or 2.

Just hope that these creams will work, I was also told that i may have this problem all the time like have a flare up every few months or so.

Not happy right now but really really thank you all for your comments on this

I can't help you with the problem but I promise you the camera is not too bad and doesn't irritate and stir things up much at all. You take care and I hope you soon have some relief. Cris x

If you go back to Dr. ask if he/she thinks Proctofoam would work any better, anything is worth a try.

It's good your doc is treating this with some urgency. I would echo what Vonski said and ask for proctofoam.

I've had a sigmoidoscopy and a barium enema to check for unexplained bleeding. Neither was particularly comfortable but at least I had reassurance once the tests were complete.

Hi Justin just wanted to comment on this I have been through what you are going through, Like you say it is em brassing, you are doing the right thing returning to your doctors I hope if it doesn't get any better he refers you to a specialist, I had my mother ill at the time so treated mine myself to the stage where I couldn't sit stand go any where
I went to my doctor who gave me various creams foams you name it
any way to cut a long story short my OH I returned to my doctor who sent me straight to hospital ,
I was admitted went to theatre, they found two abscesses, & a polyp
I don't want to worry you but,
please don't leave things.

Thanks everyone...had to go back to the doctors again yesterday as i am still sufferring the pain and bleeding isnt as bad now after bowl movements but its this itch sometimes i will go and think wow everything is ok no symptoms then this awfull itch comes on after about an hour and lasts for around 2 hours...it even caught me unaware when i was in a shop.

Anyway because things had sort of calmed down a bit the doctor examined me again and I have internal hemoroids and also something called anal fiseries (dont know if its spelt right) he said they are like cracks inside and on each bowl movement they get irritated and itch etc and then the hemoroids then cause the pain and burning.

Amazing...I get 2 things not just one :roll: anyway i was given for a perscription for some cream called glyciryn something only to go to my usual chemists and find they dont have it and it has to be specially ordered so wont be able to get it until tomorrow dinner time.

Just hope it works as the doctor said it should of got easier by now and said if things are no better then they will send me to get them removed...great :roll:

He also said that a main side effect of this new glycciryn cream is that you get head aches with it...I suppose its better than what i am experiancing at the moment.

Goodness me, Justin. The saga continues. Let's hope this medication does the trick. I am sure you do not wish to have an op. Those anti biotics definitely started something awful, didn't they? :shock:

thanks for the replies everyone the cream i have now been given is called glyceryl trinitrate 0.2% cream and the local chemist had to order it in as they say its explosive!!! and i have to keep it in a fridge my god it makes you think what they put in stuff now :shock:

I hope it works - i dont want surgery but the doctor said that i will get bad headaches from this stuff.

I have to put it inside (where the problem is) but heres hoping it works

I am feeling a bit better now but still have awful itch about an hour after bowl movements very slight burning sensation but at least i can sit down a bit better.

If i am still having these symptoms i will go back to doctors it should of gone completley by now.
