Hi Linda, Cris and Lynn and all you other lovelies out there!
I arrived home last night. All went well, thank you. Your good wishes worked, you see and I was most grateful for them all. I was told by my consultant the whole knee was really bad and he did not know how I had coped! Probably sweet talking me, aye?
I am in quite a bit of pain every so often but the paracetamol keep it at bay, along with REST, ELEVATION and ICE. The bruising is coming out nicely  and the knee is swollen but improves with rest, elevation and ice.
The physio in the hospital was pleased with my mobility and so for the last two days, she ordered me to rest the knee with the bed elevated and use ice and do the occasional short walk. She said I know you can do all the exercises so REST. That I did, and it has certainly helped me.
I was told by the consultant not to expect this operation to be the same as the last and there have been differences. One difference is that I do not think I have as much pain as last time.
I only need to use one crutch when walking, this happened very early on in the hospital, which was good for me.
Even a short walk is not a breeze but it wasn't last time. I keep saying to myself this is a major operation and takes time and I know it does, looking back two years ago.
My first physio appointment is next Wednesday and I am having the same person as 2 years ago which pleases me because we got on well together and I am sure she will remember me from last time
Well, my lovelies, I hope you are all ok and I look forward to being on here more as the days go by.
Lots of love and hugs to all you brilliant peeps.

So lovely to see you posting again Elna, and great that everything went well.
I was really interested in the comparison of your ops, as it`s something I`ve thought about, in case I need my other knee replaced, in the future. At the moment, it`s fine, but if I ever do have it done, I won`t be expecting - hoping though! - it to be as easy, as the first one.
Looking forward to hearing from you again, on a regular
basis......Ange.0 -
Aw Elna it is lovely to see you back, I have really missed you, now make sure you do has you are told, (says me who never does) you take it easy and carry on improving.
My friend had her first knee replacement last week, and the consultant told her the recovery would be better then a few years ago, because the knees are made to measure now,
Lots of love

Thank you all for your good wishes and for remembering me.
Well, day 2 at home. Goodness knows where the time goes! I forgot how long everything takes to do, ie a shower, getting washed and dressed. I really do think that this time round I have less pain although last night I did not sleep well really due to pain. Perhaps it was something to do with having a cup of coffee much later on in the day than I usually do. I did have a sleep in the morning today after breakfast. Paracetamol seems to keep the pain at bay most of the time plus anti inflammatories. Last time I was on stronger painkillers. Icing is very soothing too. Usually I am all for heat but not after the operation. I need to get the swelling down somewhat. The bruising is still coming out. I did start to take arnica 2 weeks before the op and kept that a secret and took it daily whilst in hospital too. I did bruise very badly last op but now this time, of course, I am not sure if it would have been even worse had I not taken the arnica.
Tomorrow I go back to the ward sometime during the day and have the knots at each end of the stitches snipped or trimmed or whatever the correct wording is.
Well, my lovelies, thank you all again, you little treasures, keep smiling and helping each other out on here and having a cuppa in the cafe.
I think I shall go and Rest, Ice and Elevate but perhaps I had better do some physio exercises first. I just love doing them.
Keep safe,
Lots of love
