Hi

Ealier tonight a foal was born a little boy.

Our Cris had gone out to check on the mum as she knew there would be a foal tonight.

Well by going back out in the dark she managed to save the Foal's life.

I think Cris said his mum was too busy eating to see to the foal so Cris was on hand to give him the gift of life as he would have drowned in the sac.

Congratulations Cris and well done for saving him

love Trish xxxx

I think Chris would fit the bill very nicely, but I know our girl is too modest for that. How about Knight? (nice pun on night, as he was born in the dark.)

One of my favourtie footy stories concerns Steve Mcmanaman and a few other players who owned two racehorses. They were called 'A Horse' and 'Another Horse' so that if they were ever placed in a race the commentator would say 'And the winner is A Horse, followed by Another Horse!' Cracks me up, every time. Cris you never let on. That was good timing or good intuitition that you checked when you did. About time you started your own mag column - an weekly update on the daily events on the farm - would be a good read and a money spinner for your goodself.

Keep meaning to ask - did the sheep get shorn?

    Oh, Oh Embarrassing.......

    Hi Trish,

Its not true, I am nothing special and I was a trained person a long time ago

Mares are quite easy, they do have several signs they are going to foal. Only bagged up 3 days back fully, had the muscle relaxation (except the eating one  ) and she had waxed up.... she was starting to drip milk so it wasn't fluke I knew it was imminent.

She is still eating for Britain but she now likes him.. well I cleaned him up quite well :lol::lol::lol: xx

    Hi Brenda,

I shall pm you about pics and again I am nothing special at all. xx

    Hi Val,

I think in that situation you know cus he was 3/4 out, flapping about and you could hear him drowning....... bless him he would have inhaled a lot more fluid and anyone standing there would have got that off his mead and cleaned his nose and mouth I think. So there you go your now trained for the last one  xx

    Hi Toni,

You are so right, embarrassing doesn't cover it..... xxx

    DD,

Ah the names with T/B's are sometimes so good..... I used to love the nae 'Thethingaboutit is' (you used to have -and probably still do- 18 letters in the name) I used to dream of a Derby winner... got close as well! She could have done the oaks but she grew too big :lol::lol: Her name reflected a personal thing...... Its quite a responsibility actually names.....

Hope your a lot better today? xx

    Hi Annie,

You and Lois gave me 2 lovely names and I had Clover as a reserve...... I have debated all night about the name for this chap..... He is quite a heavy built lad and well he is now called.....

Rowan! :D:D:D I haven't got any but he was under the may blossom and the laburnum so ...... it suits him actually.... and thank for such a solid name. xx

    Hi Joan,

There are pictures but wanted to check with people first cus there is a lot of blood   :lol::lol::lol:

Owns foals differently to most...... she did it last year and this one the same..... I had to pull the last 1/4 of each foal out and get their airways cleaned up..... as soon as I have done my bit Owns leaps up so the blood is still going through the cord and well some of you might not want that graphic..... he is also the youngest one photoed..... I took a towel and camera with last night... I am learning :lol::lol::lol: xx

    Hi Ange,

Having leaped up She turned round licked him and started eating leaving me to clean and dry him....:lol::lol: Ever felt used :lol::lol::lol: I did put a head collar on her yesterday cus she gets very silly over her foals...... He must be tame as he is a colt and will be re homed. I am find a home not leaving that to his owner... Mind he is a cracking little lad! Much better than last years and so better quality... he is clearly related to both Flo, Mulelet, Primmy (who will be back in 9 days :D:D ) and Blossom and does a half decent Freddie flat ears caught n camera at 4 mins old :lol::lol: xx

    Hi Speedy,

next year will be easier cus i know when they are due :D 2 will foal about the 6-8th may, Owns will foal about the 28th of may and Sweet-pea well she has yet to foal so wont know till she does but think it will be about 10-14 days so will be earlier next year...... xx

    Hi Joan,

I could never have a name like mine  Its a good name but I couldn't use it I am afraid. Hey pics to follow..... 2 sets, one I will send the other you have to want :lol::lol: xx

    Hi Lois,

I love the name Willow and also Rowan. This little chap isn't a willow..... He nearly was for a bit but he is very big and quite heavily built. We will see what Sweet-pea has but I think it will be a Willow :D Hope your doing ok? ((())) and nice to see you :D xx

Right i shall up load these pictures, go get some milk and then send some pics out :D he is the heaviest and actually very much a coloured lad and is quite a nice put together foal... more importantly he is well, healthy and happy :D

You all have a good day and wish you could be here...... xx

    Hi Elizabeth,

Got very new born ones ready but they are a bit messy...... was going to send today ones and warn people about the mess if they would like them? Hope you and Lucy are well? ((( ))) xx

Thankyou so much for the piccies.I expect the very newborn ones might be off putting for Lucy- these ones 12 hours old are lovely.
Thankyou for sending them to us Cris.
Willow was my fave choice as my friends son is called Willow and he is a right scamp but Rowan is another lovely nature name.
    You take care

    Hi Elizabeth,

I think that wise actually... I did send them to begin with them realized they are very messy so that's why there wasn't a very young foal in the inbox this morning......

I agree I love Willow but this little chap just isn't a Willow..... If the next one isn't either I know next yer Flower's could well be. Names kinda fit the thing being named don't they and he is more a Rowan than a Willow..... Got to be a special one for that name I think.

He is lovely though and outward gong as well :D xx

    Hi Val,

This lot do neither, that I promise xx

    Hi Tilly,

He is a big foal, she actually throws big foals so she get very tired...... that's why she isn't as good to foal as the others. She has done the foal proud again but she is also very fat :lol: Bless her she is a very proud mum.... I don't think she knows how close she gets to not having a foal though they do get some air as well but a huge amount of fluid and last years was very flat.... this one didn't have time to be :D He is really absolutely fine :D xx

    Hi Trish,

I still say anyone standing there would do the same. It does go to show its better to have someone there even if they are ponies eh?

Must get on and will catch up with you later. xx

    Hi Barbara,

Owns is the original Fanny Flat Ears and ell Rowan is also quite good at the Freddie Flat ears but he will never beat his mum :lol: xx

    Hi Babycham,

I shall put that on the simmer burner cus its a good name and there is too much of it here this year so the next one might be born near a bit. I shall have the right nae when i meet what ever she foals... I think another colt from the size of her but hope for a filly..... xx

    Hi Debs,

You welcome Flower and yep you will certainly meet some of them... my bettering is primrose and Blossom but Rowan might be back by then, it all depends on Sweet-Pea and when she foals.... xx

Right must do evening duties and will look around better when I gets back Cris xx

Hi Kim and Jan photos on their way just today's one lee you want the graphic last nights.... I am not special and all of you would have done the same xxxx

We will all have to pick names and then Cris can see what suits the foals next year.

    Cris

I could have done it, if I could stand and walk it would not put me off I did train to do Resuss so I would have had a go but I have to be honest I would like you to be by my side first time.

His name is lovely. Thank goodness Annie did not want Sidney
