Well I bit the bullet this morning and rang the consultants secretary.
I've got an appointment for 8th Oct {pencilled in in her diary} She will send me an appointment to see consultant about September to discuss it
That will be 8 months after the first THR....summer over {what summer LOL} and my 6 weeks will be up Novemeber so should be OKish for Christmas.
Thats the way I was looiking at it before I rang her anyway.
So will get a week in Ireland with family.
Another week in the caravan sometime ..Where I dont know
Probably do the usual...hitch the caravan up and point the car and see where we end up
Love
Hileena

Well done. That's a good step and it took some courage. Think of the benefits, hileena, that will hold you true to your course. DD

You will be fine all the time because we will be behind you every step (oooh, sorry) of the way. All Micra owners salute you (I know you have one, you mentioned it in a post. So do I, called Daisy.) It will be such a help to you, I am sure. Yes, a few weeks of pain and discomfort and restriction but then . . . . DD

Ooh well done Hileena! Might as well go ahead - what's the point of one new good hip if the other one is causing you so much grief.

Sounds like good timing - you can fit in the holidays and do all your Christmas shopping during your recovery - online!!

    Speedy

PS As DD says we will be here to support you in the lead up.
I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Thanks for the support from all of you.
Especially the Micra owners LOL......They are great...by the way DD do you know if there is such a thing as an automatic Micra....I love my little micra but have arthur in my ankle [clutch one] and want to buy an automatic when I change cars {whenever that will be???}I have had micras for ages now.
Back to the THR......At least I know when it is happening and can get my Christmas shopping in early even if its not done on line

I would like to take this opportunity to point out that ALL female Micra drivers are sexy little things.

I am fine with the petrol version at the mo, despite the arthritis now being in both ankles. I struggled badly with my old car, a Citroen ZX diesel, it was soooooo heavy on the accelerator pedal. Daisy is a revelation: ZX mileage, about 1000 miles per annum, hospital and back, mostly. Daisy: 9500 in a year. Woo-hoo!

Mine is one of the lavender-blue ones, an 03 reg. I adore her. DD

    Hi Barbara
Thanks for the support...might not be so brave when it gets closer to the time but at least its not long since I had the other one done so should have an idea what to expect.
    Hi DD
I'll take your word for it LOL LOL
I'm OK at the minute with the micra......but if my ankle gets really bad we havent got the money to just say OK lets get you an automatic {its a 2nd car} so I thought....think ahead ....and when I have to change it might as well change it to an automatic....but it has to be a small automatic???????????????????????preferably a micra but dont know if they do them

I will find out amd post back here. Won't be long. Right, sorted. I typed 'automatic micra by nissan' into google and was sent flying across the room in shock at what came up - one for sale at less than £4k. I believe, however, that servicing can be more expensive on an automatic, a point to consider. DD

    Hi DD
Thanks for that......but if the servicing is more expensive that cant be helped. If it a choice of driving an automatic or not driving if my ankle gets really bad......but thats a bit off yet....not really looking to change it yet

LOL LOL LOL What is jessicar?? what kind I mean????
Still a bit apprehensive but the operated one is still sore {slightly} and I think is it because I'm putting more weight on it.
The other one seems worse....I dont know.....just being optimistic that having the other one done will sort me out a bit more.
At least I know what questions to ask them this time....Dont know if you remember I had a spinal block the last time.....the anaesthetist couldnt find the right place to put the injection in.......didnt make me feel very confident....I think I will ask if its possible to have the one that sorted it out in the end.

Yes always ask the questions. I was very sick after a small op years ago and when I went in again I told them I was worried so they gave me a different knock out drug and I was fine. I know yours is a different problem but worth asking.

Jessicar is my new little car I got last Wednesday. Hyundia i10

    Hi Hileena,

Glad you have made the choice now and like you say you will know what questions to ask as well the next time.

Sometimes an auto helps, do they make auto micra's? I think they do....... My car hasn't got nice heels.... it was wearing wellies but one seems o have fallen off :lol::lol: Cris x

Hi, I think they do do automatic micras, will have to check on it....but its not the most important thing on the list at the moment.
Does anypne have "Healthy Life" in their area? Its where you GP refers you to a gym and they set up an exercise plan to suit your needs.....its only for people with illness of some sort or other.....
I go to see the nurse at the surgery today to get all the paper work sorted out, then after that you are called for an assessment and then they work a plan out for you....taking into consideration that I have 1 THR and arthritis in my ankle and other hip.
I couldnt do anything at the moment because I pulled a muscle in my side and its so sore....worse than arthur LOL
So we'll see how that goes.
At least if I start this I will be fitter when I go for my 2nd THR
Wish me luck.....tonight going to WeightWatchers for the first time since before my THR...not looking forward to it one little bit LOL

Gee Hileena, don't over do it!!

Healthy life thing sounds good - I wonder if they do that in my area ..? There is a gym a scooter distance away ...

And weight watchers ... wow you are inspired ... good luck - everyone will be feeling the same as you.

Sorry about the pulled muscle - best thing for that really is rest and if no better see GP - it isn't in spasm is it? How did you manage that?

    Speedy

    Hi Hileena

You are brave! My MIL in law had both her hips done within the year and never regretted it.

You seem very organised ...visit Ireland, caravanning and then operation!

Maybe we'll have a bit of a summer soon. I recall it was a bit grim this time last year ...all it did was rain. I had a party for my son on 20 June and it was cloudy most of the day. OH put up 2 gazebos just in case! Thankfully it didn't rain but we had 2 patio heaters going from about 5pm.
