On Tuesday I have to go to the hospital for further tests.

Well during this test, I am having a tube with a camera on it.

On the letter it said you can been put out to have it done or have some spray in your throat. glluup

Have any of you had it done? What did you do be put out or the spray??

I'm not looking forward to it very much. Does it take long??

hi. I had that done about 5 years ago. You have nothing to worry about i promise you. Its a really simple procedure. I chose to have the sedation which doesn't knock you out but you really have no idea what's going on really. It doesn't hurt and it doesn't take that long either. I would take someone with you though, you will feel pretty drowsy and disorientated afterwards so you might need help getting home.

hope that answers your questions? Let us know how you get on

    Hi Trish,

I had the same as Penny. Its over in abut 20 or so mins I think and your relaxed, don't feel a thing and well you will be ok. The sedative might do as Penny says but it will ensure your not really aware and they can use a light one a they did to me.

Good luck and you know we shall all be in your pocket don't you? Love and a ((( ))) Cris xxx

    Hi Trish,

Won't let go flower and you would be very unlucky to be admitted as they will just do a light sedative if your up for that.... Its quite interesting to watch the screen I found but i also was fairly out of it

You will be ok Flower. Love and another ((((( ))))) Cris xxx

    Hi Trisher

Go for the sedation please. My hubby had that, no problem. Someone we know chose the other option, and regretted it. He is definitely no wimp either.

I am sorry to hear that you need this test and I wish you well with it.

    Love

    Hi Trish,

i had it done 4yrs ago....chose not to have the sedation, just the throat spray. I wasn't being brave...it's because I didn't have anyone to come with me at the time and the hosps don't let you travel home alone if you have the light sedation.

the endoscopy took about 20mts as Cris said, and you wait for a while afterwards until you're ready to go home.

My advice?...please do have the light sedation. It is not a nice procedure to have fully awake and the throat spray really doesn't do much to make it easier!
I would definitely have the sedation if I had to have it done again.

will be thinking about you Trish.

    love n hugs

    Hi Trish

....you are definitely not moaning , in fact I've never heard you 'moan' about anything...except on the 'Post a Grump' Thread and that's allowed. :D:wink:

you will be fine and the staff will take great care of you and will make sure you have oxygen...........they give it to everyone anyway before the procedure ....and they monitor you all the time.

we are all sending you love and support to see you through this and if having this done helps them get to the bottom of arther and his lot then it will be worth it.

    chin up... (((hugs)))

Hi petal, I forgot to say the other night that I was given oxygen during the procedure anyway. Not sure if this is usual, or if it was because of the asthma.

    Hi Trish,

S had this done a few years ago. He had sedation. The sedative they used was chosen as it had amnesic properties and as a result he has no recollection of the actual procedure at all. Of course you will have oxygen if needed and you will be monitored very closely throughout.

S had a pre-procedure appointment where the options were discussed and we were given the paperwork to complete - are you having one of these?

We will be thinking of you,
