    Hi Trish,
I had a camera up the other end and the following week a camera down the throat (an endoscopy), I hope it wasn't the same camera!

I will have to disagree on the sedation though, I opted for the local spray. It was no big deal really, uncomfortable at worst.

It was also quite comical at times, they kept pumping air into me to allow a reasonable field of vision, and it kept coming up again......... loudly!

On my way home some of this air also found it's way out via the other end, oh dear, a smite embarrassing!

But really, that was the worst I could say about it. The procedure itself is not comfortable, not something you would choose to do for fun, but it's not that bad either.

Hope this helps, you'll be fine, no worries.

    Hi,
I am sorry you arn't too well at the moment. It must make you nervous and worried, don't think thats strange at all, I'd be driving everyone mad! I worried about my husband, when he had that done, more than he did. He didn't have any sedation, except the spray and really wished he had, so I'd go for the sedation.

I'll be thinking of you, I'm sure all will be well!
Lots of love, and a hug, Sue xxxx(((((())))) :)

    HI Trisher,

well whatever you decide ( and only you can make that choice  ) I wanted you to know that I'll be thinking of you.

My hubby had an endoscopy and he was sedated as he has a very strong gag reflex (even struggles brushing his teeth  ) and the only thing I can say is make sure your hubby hasn't got a tape-recorder because mine babbled on about all sorts of nonsense for 24 hours afterwards but other than that had absolutely no problems.

huge hugs (and I'll be in your pocket too  )

    Hi Trish,
I have been having annual Endoscopies since I was in my early 30's (I am 55 now). I find the procedure is fine.
    I always opt for sedation.
I have had this procedure in 4 different hospitals & each time the staff have been excellent, always looking after the patients very well. I am given a nice cup of tea & sometimes a sandwich or biscuit afterwards too!
    Good wishes,
    Lynn

    Hi Trisher

I was put out and they put something in my mouth that tasted like pear drops. I only remember the spray! Which I must say suited me just fine (being a coward).

A quick spray at the back of the throat to stop you reacting to the tube but it doesn't take long for the procedure. They pump air into you to distend the stomach and get better pictures, so you keep feeling the need to burp, ha ha ha ha.

Just remember there are worst places to have a camera!

    8) Its a grin, honest!

    Hi Everyone

Well I had it done after a long wait as two fire engines were in the hospital. I did not see anyone running down the road. So I presume it was either a false alarm or something simple.

I had sedation, I thought of all the answers on here. But in the end the doctors though it would be best if I was sedated.

When I woke up I was in a small ward and was looked after so well.

They made me a sandwich also a drink and then was allowed to come home. I was so tired I had another nap.

All I have is a sore throat which they said is normal.

So that was my test done. I was not told any results. They said they will be a report go to the Liver Unit Consultant. Which I hope is all the tests are over and they know what has gone wrong with my liver.

Thank you all for being there for me either in my pocket or helping me with your answers on here.

    Love Trish xxx

    Hi Trish

I'm glad to hear that everything went fine. I was sedated too! I hate being in hospitals and I'm afraid of all the utensils and machinery they use!!!!

Hopefully you'll get the results soon. Wil they send them to your GP or do you have to see your consultant?

    Take care.
