Don't know the answer to that one beowolf. what about this one
The maker doesn’t want it; the buyer won’t use it; and the user doesn’t even see it. What is it?0 -

Is it a coffin :?:
Here's another one:
If you have it, you want to share it. If you share it, you don't have it. What is it?0 -
just off to work.... I'll be thinking about that one all day joanlawson
what can you put into a barrel of water to make it lighter?0 -
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Wow I LOVE these!!!!! Do you think that left handers are better at these than right handers due to the left brain action?!! (Oh and that's not a puzzle!)0

A waterproof torch??0 -

I know it will be so obvious when you put the answer: I do not have enough flexibility in my thinking. DD
Flexibility of thought!! hey hey!!!! I love that theory!!!! CB0 -
stlucia, you are right. Left brain thinking is logic-based, so sciences and maths etc. Right brain is the artistic stuff, writing, reading, art, sculpture. Some things, eg music, overlap, both sides are used. I am basically right-brained, hence my frustration at not being able to get the hang of these. Frog, I reckon you're on the right track with the torch in the barrel. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

That's really interesting...so I'm left handed....but I can do logic stuff but also I am quite right brained...I might look this up!0 -
The brain has two hemispheres, one left and one right. If you are right handed the LH is in charge, if you are left handed, the RH. Some people are strongly to one side, ie left-eyed, left-eared, left handed, left footed, all controlled by the RH. Others are strongly the other way, so the LH is in control. Some vary: I am right-eyed, right handed and right footed, but left eared - this is known as cross-laterality as both hemispheres are playing a part, but I can write with my left hand - and do so for my left-handed pupils. I hate, however, using my right ear for the phone - it feels all wrong!
The Catholic church spent many years tormenting left-handed people, trying to get them writing with their right hands. Their 'reasoning' (and I use that word quite loosely) was that the left being the 'sinister' side of the body the wrong forces were in control. But if right handed, the sinister part of the brain is in control.
The majority of people are right handed, which is why left handed children get such a bum deal when being taught how to write: left handers need a diferent set of skills, a different guide to letter formation. Just look at Barack Obama and Prince William writing. An absolute disgrace to the teaching profession, the two of them.Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

Apart from the children who get me or you teaching them with our left hands!0 -
It's not rocket science is it? I know that many people have no degree of ampidextrousness (?) but that does not excuse the complete inability to teach left handers. My heart sinks when I hear that dread phrase 'school handwriting policy'. It usually means that letters such as g and j and y cannot be joined to others. Joined zeds are based on the printed form and end up looking like the tops of castles (can't remember the right word for those bits!) Aaaaaaaaargh! Lefties naturally want to write from right to left - no wonder they struggle sometimes. They are having to write 'into' the body, not away from it - hence the fact that lefty children often sit on one foot to raise their bodies to try and give them more room. I'd better stop - I've hijacked a thread! My apologies to all the odd thinkers out there! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Ah! think I know the answer ....but I can't tell you!!!! CB0 -
Correct, CB, because it is a secret
what can you put into a barrel of water to make it lighter?
The answer is a hole.
I drift forever with the current
down these long canals they've made
Tame, yet wild, I run elusive
Multitasking to your aid.
Before I came, the world was darker
Colder, sometimes, rougher, true
But though I might make living easy,
I'm good at killing people too.
What am I?0 -
Electricity?
What is greater than God... more evil than the devil... the poor have it... the rich need it... and if you eat it you will die?0 -
Correct, Dorcas. I think I know the answer to yours, but I will wait to see if anyone else guesses it.0

Either you're googling these valval, or you are very left-brained! Are you good at maths, science, logic puzzles etc? I was actually going to put 'the surgeon's a woman' but you beat me to it! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
