Hi
You have all been so lovely with your support since I dislocated my hip on Monday. I thought I would let you know how I am doing.
I am home alone today, hubby at work, kids gone to water park (last day off school!). I am sleeping ok, although I wake a couple of times, probably due to sleeping on my back. Urgh!
I had a call from the hospital today, asking me to keep my existing appointment next Friday. I wonder if it is better to let things `settle` after the trauma (swelling/inflammation), before he can examine me?? Or just no other appointments before then??
I am still sore and moving very tentatively with crutches. i am a bit paranoid of it dislocating again. I keep going over it in my head, not a good thing I know, but I can`t help it.
My GP rang last night to discuss pain relief; she was lovely and said to ring her again if/when I need another sick note/or a chat.
Anyhoo- back to daytime drivel again!!
Take care xx

Of course you keep going over it - who wouldn't? It must have taken you very much by surprise - and not in a nice way! Use your crutches, proceed with caution for the time being, then when your confidence returns (and it will) you can tackle things with a little more gusto. Look after yourself - check with the hospital about the timing of your appointment if you are not sure about it. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Hi NB
It's good of you to keep us updated..... we were so worried about you and deeply concerned at the pain you were/ are in. :? so it's appreciated that you've let us know what's happening.
It's no surprise that you are moving tentatively after dislocating you hip...... that must have been an excruciatingly painful experience.
what a lovely GP you have :!: remember to phone her as she said, if you have any more worries or the pain gets too much
A week does seem along time for your next appointment.... but maybe you're right and they want to allow things to settle.
hope the sun is shining for you today and maybe you could venture out into the garden?
love and (((hugs)))

Hiya
Not surprising that you are paranoid about it dislocating again who wouldnt be? I would rest and hobble around the house until your hospital appointment, but then again I think that I am too cautious, but better being safe than sorry, I changed hospital for mine I was due to have it at wrightington and after it got cancelled a catalogue of errors happened and I refused to go back there or have the same consultant, so in the end I went to Chorley Hospital and it went great I had no problems with them or the consultant at all. But wrightington is supposed to be the top hospital or so they claim, and you are as well seeing your surgeon that did the op.
How nice of your doctor to ring you and offer you support.
Take care of yourself and take the opportunity to rest as much as you can, not all that easy whith a young family.

I think we would all be the same. Worrying a little about my hip, and it's bound to take a bit of time. Hopefully though, it will be good as new soon, and you will be more confident.
Glad you are home.
Gentle hugs

Hi NB,
good to have an update on how you are. Hip restrictions - ugh- but that hip needs some time to recover ...
Let us know how you get on at the hospital.
I'm not surprised you are going over it all in your head ... it was a big and very unpleasant shock (and not just for you - for all of us hip op folk!!) Working out the combination of movements that caused it to dislocate will help you to avoid that combination of movements again.
Your GP sounds lovely - take up the offer if you need too.
Meanwhile - at least the sun has come out for your recovery.
Take care,
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi NB
Just catching up, so glad you are back at home and like the others have said what a supportive doc. That is good to hear.Hope you are not overdosing on the day time TV. :? Do hope things improve quickly for you and that you get your confidence back as soon as you can. I send a gentle hug or two. ((( )))

Hi
Thanks again everyone. I am now waiting for bad luck number 3 as my washer has just gone up in smoke!! Grrrrr.
I really hope these things don`t come in 3`s like my mum just told me! (cheers for that Mum!!)
I`ve had a quiet afternoon whilst the kids went out with family. The sun is out but I can only look at it through the window as yet.
I have a big day ahead tomorrow as my `baby` starts high school tomorrow. I can`t wait to see him all smart in his uniform.
Hope you are all having some sun too 8)

Jeepers
Now the washer misbehaving oh dear!! Hope not too much damage.
What is it with you and washing or ironing? I suggest you avoid both for a good long while, preferably permanently.
Do get the camera ready for tomorrow morning, you will want that photo of the smart young lad. Hope he has a good day and you don't fret too much.

Hi NB
Hope you are feeling a bit better each day.. I had my hip op at wrightington in May, so I'm very interested to know how you get on next Friday.
Yep, have that camera ready tomorrow (and the tissues ready)..

Hi NB,
Thanks for the update. Good luck for Friday and I hope this weekend is a peaceful one for you.
Fingers crossed your youngest enjoys there new school. Yes good idea to get the photo done. Uniforms tend to get shall we say altered after the first term.
Sounds like my mum with it comes in 3's. Well you have had your three. Hip, Hospital and washer.

Thanks Ironic
I hadn`t thought of the `3` like that! Phew!
I`ve just packed my lil man off to bed ready for his big day. He`s very hyper about it. I`ll be a bit teary when he goes, another milestone!
Here`s hoping for a good nights sleep all xxx

Hi hope you had a good sleep. Have sent you a pm. Is it all madness in your house right now? Up, breakfast eaten and that smart new uniform on squeaky clean son looking angelic and ready for action. What's the betting he doesn't look so neat by 4 pm? Enjoy being a proud mum and also the sunshine. My routine appointment is at wrightington next week Friday 10th at 8.30 - perhaps we should have carnation buttonholes so we can recognise one another? Take care

Hi Nearly
I do hope you are ok today with the youngest off to 'big' scholl. This was me this time last year and I cant beleive she is going into year 8!!!
He will be fine - come back full of it!
Give you a chance to rest.

Hi Elaine
Thanks for your pm x. I am at Wrightington at 10.10 i think, so you may have gone if you are lucky!!
Well, my boy has safely got off to high school. Looking smart in his new uniform. I even managed ot get a piccy of him h his big sister before they went. I can`t wait to hear how his day has gone later.
The muscle pain is easing today, but it is still sore in my groin etc.. I have a friend calling round at lunch so that should break the day up.
Hope you are all ok xx

Hi, You'r bound to be a bit nervous about your hip and a bit frightened to walk. These things stay with you a while but, as you get better, it won't bother you so much, but you need to give it lots of time and be careful
. Lots of love Sue

Hi Nearly,
I am so sorry this one happened to you. Sit with it resting and don't over do it how ever guilty and rebellious you feel.
Glad the little chap got off ok and don't they look all grown up in the uniforms? Really glad you got some pictures and hope he and you have had a decent day? I remember first day at big school even now.... really hope his was less bemusing. ((( ))) and some healing hip draft, Cris xx0 -
Hi NB
Just checking how you got on at hospital, it was this Friday wasn't it  sorry if I have it wrong.
Anyway hope the pain has eased, I was just wondering do you have to do the lying on your back again for 6 weeks, I do hope not
I will be having my THR at Wrightington, so I will be interesting in how you get on.
Your youngest going to high school, I remember it well...hope he enjoyed it.
Love Barbara xxLove

Hi Barbara
I am not there til next Friday 10th. Until then I have to do all the usual hip precautions including sleeping on back etc.. To be honest, I don`t feel confident to lie on my side or turn over yet. It still feels unstable, which scares me.
My son enjoyed his first day and is looking forward ot football and rugby on Monday. All new and exciting experiences. What I wouldn`t give to be back there!!
NB0 -
Hi NB,
although the joint is back in place, the muscles etc have been through the mill and need time to recover so I think you are wise sticking to the hip precautions ... hope the groin pain starts to ease.
Glad your son had a great first day at secondary school, is he organised and good at remembering what he needs on different days? S has a chart on the back of the front door to make sure he remembers what he needs on different days.

hi nicola,
I'm glad the pain is easing a little today and that big school has been ok. My youngest grandaughter started school this week, she looks ever so grown up in her uniform. My OH is missing her as he used to look after her in the day. We are all ok, reorganisation at work and NHS cuts make things unsettled. Have a new student HV soon, difficult to be sure where service is heading at the moment. Youngest daughter also got a place on the course in same PCT as me so will be a complicated busy year I think. New hip behaving well, other one probably wil need doing but not just yet I think. Have managed several caravan hols this
summer- some wet, some dry. Florida in early summer with the grandaughters was brill. Remember to take things slowly for the time being. X Elaine0
