Hello peeps
just to say its my prosthetic app tomorrow.
the leg still isnot healed so stll got a mepore dressing on.
I will be speaking first to a doctor and then going for a measure up.
I really am hoping that this one still fits but am abit scared of him trying to put on the liner as it is made of gell and quite tight. It has to be put on sort of inside out and rolled up. The leg is still abit sore on the bone.
Anyway I will let you know. Can I leave arthur here just for this app.
Got leg packed in a carrier bag along with drinks already. (oh and a shoe) only been wearin one for a while. (yes it does match the one i am now wearing i have changed it)

I posted on your other thread about this with an apology for missing your recent post. Would you like us to be there in your pockets? Can you stand the noise and various aromas that will emanate from your person? Oh julie47pf, I hope it goes well, I hope they can do what they are supposed to but if you're still not properly healed I guess it's doubtful. Thinking of you. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Sorry to hear that the stump wound is persistently the same......

Will be with you tomorrow...if not in the forum bus then in one of your pockets.
hope you will at least have the vascular doc taking a look at your wound and offering more advice or treatments.
love and more healing ((((hugs))))

Hi Julie,
Oh flower I do hope it goes well and isn't too uncomfortable for you. Give me your arthritis to look after while you go and I shall put it to work so its too tired to bother you when you get it back.
Will be in your pocket as well and got plenty of flamingo seed to help keep you going. (((( )))) Cris xx0 -
Hi Julie
I hope your appointment goes really well and that fitting the prothestic leg isn`t too painful/uncomfortable.
Leave arthur with me and I`ll lock him in a cupboard, he is way beyond the naughty step now!

Hi Julie,
wishing you well for you appointment tomorrow. Would it be less painful if you insisted you put on the gell liner yourself?
Sounds like you are all prepared. Hang onto that carrier bag won't you (with the leg in) the hospital lost one of my crutches when I was admitted for my hop ...
Let us know how it goes.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Thanks gang for your support and keeping arthur there with you.
He nags too much at that app just cause he doesn't get the attention.
Speedy i think it was you who asked would it be better if i put on the liner. no afraid not.. It needs turning inside out and sort of rolling up it is really thick and full of gel like stuff as it needs to ptotect the skin and end of stump. My hands wont do it properly it is so hard and ends up uncomfortable.
OH normally does it and then i put stump into leg socket and he pulls up the sleeve that keeps the leg on. (sounds complicated i suppose) These are more up to date legs :P but not much good for us arthritics.
anyway will let you all know what is said. If i dont have to have a new one made and come home in this one i will dance for you all.

Good luck Julie!
I'm happy to pocket-sit too ........ though I have to warn you that you may need a third pocket for those of us averse to the smell of brie, egg sandwiches, eels, whelks and various other noxious substances
It can be quite entertaining in the waiting room sitting wondering who is doing what in our pocketsMy hubby came with me for my appointment last week and was frankly astonished by the assortment of goodies that we carried with us
hope your appointment goes better than you think!

Hi guys thanks for coming with me today.
You were tickling me as i was trying to concentrate, all that movin about, yuk them jelly eels left my pockets slimey.
Anyway
was there in good time 15 mins to spare but doc was an hour late.
he did appologise to which i politely said oh thats fine.
He asked me all my history as he was a stand in for maternity leave.
I briefly told him my problem, that I had RA (which is obvious it stands out) and that I had a bursa and sinus removed by the vascular people 5 weeks ago.
He asked me when the bursa started and i told him nearly two years ago and that it was an ill fitting leg that sparked the problem.
I told him that they had made me this leg in the hope that it would rectify the problem an the wound would heal. (I was prepared to try anything before surgery).
He told me I should have gone back sooner . to which i replied i didnt know whose problem i was. Gp, Rheumatology, vascular or his.
He said i was everyones problem but mainly his as it is to do with fitting a leg properly. (i was pushed from one dept to another ,no one really knowing) I wish we were all sat in a room and i could say this rather than type it isnt good for my one finger.
Anyway... I am now wearing a shrinker again. (a really tight sock to get stump back in shape) I then go back to the prson who makes the leg in two weeks on the 23rd. They will then measure me again for another gel filled liner. They will also then do a 3d image of my stump on the computer and in a couple of weeks after that it will have been made.
This doctor wants to see me in about 3 months with the new leg.
He said if i have any probs before that time to ring for an app.
I have told him he and they need to get me right for my daughters wedding on the 2nd april. He smiled and said dont worry so we have a goal.
I said yes but i had a goal in april 2009 for my 25th wedding anniv but it was never met and i had to go to barcelona with a leg that didnt fit. I kept telling them but it never happened. He was quite sorry.
Anyway enough said hey. Fingers crossed it will be ok in about 5 or 6 weeks when its all done. (Its just this humping my self from one chair etc to another, tring to stand at the worktop for the odd minute. Cause sometimes you do need to stand.) that is hard.
Well I hope you all have had a good day . I will read some posts then go for a rest the bloods been drained out of my face. dont know where the make up went.
Oh cant do the hop dd will have to wait. Perhaps do the conga as it will be nearly christmas wont it by the time i am sorted. Christmas yeeeaa :P :P
