Daily Poem
Emptiness
By Kathleen
These halls still echo with your warmth.
Expectation unfulfilled of seeing you around every corner.
The dreams I built still cling,
will not vaporize in your absence.
Never to see again those eyes that smile.
I sit arm in arm with loneliness
while surrounded by those who never knew you.
t4591 t4591 t4591 t4591 t4591 t4591
Ecky thump, it's pitch black outside. I expect it's chucking it down.
Sending love, hugs and sparkles to Aidan and hoping he's starting to feel a little better. I know he's getting sterling medical care with Sleek and Bill. Also hope dad is eating well.
It feels a bit strange as my laptop has been getting updates so I've done everything back to front. For those interested, the recipe is from the IBS Network so won't upset anyone's tums.
Martin and a trainee nurse paid me an unexpected visit for more blood tests this morning. Put us right off,
Hollie's late grandmother is being cremated and she will be driven there in a horse drawn carriage. How lovely.
Take care everyone.
Low FODMAP Mini chocolate orange panettone
Ingredients (serves 3–4)
• 250g gluten free bread flour
• 150g dark chocolate chips
• 2 tsp of orange oil
• 2 eggs
• 1 tbsp of oil
• 1 tsp of vanilla
• 1 pack of fast acting yeast
• 1 pinch of salt
• 1 small pinch of cream of tartar
• 50g of castor sugar
• 1 tsp of cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp of cloves
• 1 tsp of ginger
• 1 tsp of mixed spice
Method
Gas 6, 200°C, 180°fan.
Add the flour, spices, salt and dark
chocolate chips to a bowl and mix well.
Separate the yolk from the white of the
eggs.
Add the cream of tartar to the egg whites
and whisk until soft peaks are formed,
adding 25g of sugar half way through. Add
the rest when the peaks become firmer.
Add the oil, vanilla and orange oil to the
egg yolks.
Start adding the water to the dry
ingredients and mix with a hand mixer.
Then add the yolk mixture.
Quickly fold into the mix half the beaten
egg whites to slacken the mix. Then gently
fold in the rest of the egg white.
Add to bread tins and leave in a warm
place for 30 minutes to rise.
Cook in a warm oven for 30 minutes until
cooked."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Afternoon everyone Kari has just left bless her she'd come over on her electric bike and it started to rain
Still she got home pretty well dry at least.
Still no sign of my furniture yet sadly...
Right must locate some wort of cake for us :? biccies? Will they do?
Just watch the bush babies around them Kath The poem was rather sad today, but very good.
Of course you're right B and Sleek are looking after Aidan really well I also hope he'll be back in a day or so. I see Martin has been taking good care of you too
What have you cooked up for us Kath? Oh my that looks lovely panettone! and easy on our tums too.
A horse drawn carriage! How lovely mind you that would set me off bawling. Will you be able to see it out of your window?
Barbara how wonderful eldest GD arriving like that I bet that had made your week!! Maybe they are Santa's little helpers!! Enjoy your time with them I expect they are working Christmas like Lucy and to a lesser extent Charley.
Hugs for Aidan t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006 will help I'm sure and for B he will be frazzled with having Dad to keep an eye on too  As for Sleek Kath has a cupboard with all Sleeks bits in and gives her treats as does B's Dad and of course she shares Tosca's 'sweets' when she's checking on Aidan
Joan sounds like your body got used to the co-cos I am very pleased t hear the tramadols are doing the job. You shouldn't have to be in pain ((()))
Is Carol off tomorrow? I feel as though it's tomorrow down to see the kids and Gkids she will have a hard day getting there, but then she'll have a great time and bring us all back some photos t4591
Love to everyone

Good morning everyone I hope we are all well.
I heard from B yesterday and Aidan is still really rough so I have to find us some food again - sorry the standard is so low....
Mixed veggie frittata
Sleek is just back from doing her 'rounds' good job she never catches any of our bugs isn't it? All paperwork obs charts and blood samples ( ) will be taken over to Minerva later for opinion and any action necessary.
I put the blankies on the new furniture overnight so Miss Slimkins doesn't get it fluffy!! I hope you all love it and think it was worth the very very long wait
A quick wave to Joan
I'll be back later

Daily Poem (Also just posted another on the poetry thread)
Symphony
by Kathleen
In the morning when I rise,
darkness lies along the road;
and from outside my door,
comes the croaking of a toad
as it crawls along the path,
towards the moonlit fields.
While in a nearby belfry,
a lonely church bell peals.
When the sun begins to creep
slowly up the garden wall,
and darkness fades away,
I hear the skylark call
as deep within the forest,
all the other birds awake
and join the chorus of the dawn,
and the herald of daybreak.
There in the shaded fen a doe
with cautious eye dips her head
to drink the dew,
as she hears a vixen cry.
Toni, WOW, that is stunning. Mixed veggie frittata will do very nicely thank you dear. I'm sorry Aidan is still very poorly, sending hugs and (((( t4591 t4591 t4591 t4591 )))).
Joan, we won't see Hollie's gran's funeral cortege. Holly will go to her gran's house which is no where near us sadly.
Sending (((()))) for Barbara, mig and all who are having a rough time. Only 16 abs to take, that's 8 days. Starting to fee; quite a bit better.
Below is a link to a .zip file. If you can open it there is a short story wot I wrote called "The Great Escape" It's something Sleek and possibly Tosca might enjoy. If you can get it and fancy a read, please let me know what you think.

Vegan burgers
How about trying a vegan low FODMAP burger during the
summer?
Ingredients
Serves 4
120g of cooked red and white Quinoa
1 chopped roasted red peppers
30g chopped peanuts
1 courgette
4-5 sprigs chopped fresh thyme
2 tsp of garlic infused oil
salt + pepper to taste
This is a very tasty vegan burger that is not too hard on
the digestive tract for people with IBS.Method
Grate the courgette finely and squeeze out the excess water from the vegetable
Mix all ingredients together
The burgers are delicate, so it is better to put them on a square of greased foil to cook them
on the barbecue or under the grill.
Using a crumpet ring or metal cutter, place on the foil then fill to the rim with recipe mix and
press mixture together, then remove the cutter to leave a circular burger.
Once cooked place them in a vegan gluten free, pitta or wrap.
Serve with skewered roasted green peppers.
Makes 4 burgers
Enjoy!"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Well café friends this is a post I had prayed I would not have to leave for you all.
Brace yourselves.
Our wonderful friend Aidan suffered a heart attack on Monday and has been in hospital since then in an induced coma. Unfortunately he did not recover and died this afternoon at 3:40pm.
Bill was able to be with him and has given me permission to let you all know now.
Please though can we all be mindful not to post anything on facebook while Bill has time to reflect on what has happened.
I am sure you will all feel the same as me that we were lucky to know Aidan and feel part of his family and he part of our own families. Such a kind, intelligent, funny caring man. I feel privileged to have had him in my life.
God Bless you Aidan! Your Mum and Dad, Cookie and Pepe have you now safe over rainbow bridge. t115006 t115006 When you can please send us a message via Silver.
Thank you for making my life better

Oh Frog, what sad news. I have long and fond forum memories of Aidan/Bubbles/Matron, what a loving, caring and interesting man he was.
My heart goes out to Bill, I have no comprehension of how he must be feeling but I hope he knows that, although we are all strangers, we are friends and today friends united in grief for a lovely, lovely man. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
