Why do I bother?

So far this week I have hurled the following at my PA: one dose of humira, one dose of injected meth, fifteen tablets of sulphasalazine, five naproxen tablets, a total of 27.5 grams of steroids and six blood pressure tablets (that's risen thanks to the humira and the steroids). The response from the PA? Another flare which began last night. A controlled disease? I think not. It is dancing around me, grinning and gurning for all it's worth, mocking me with its ability to do what it wants, when it wants (unlike its host), taunting my feeble, medicated opposition to its desires. Yet again I hurtle towards the U bend of life: I have no doubt that I will make it round to the other side (for the umpteenth time) and rise again, coughing and spluttering, into what is laughingly called a life. It is enough to make a saint swear. And I ain't no saint. DD

Hi DD, not again! It seems such a short time since your last flare. How unfair. You know what to do. Just sending you my best wishes and hope you feeling better in a day or two.

Hi DD
I am so sorry you are in so much pain, my recent flare was scary and painful but nothing like the suffering you are going through. You have been such a support to me since I joined the forum, you always have fab suggestions and you really care.
I'm sorry I can't do anything more to help, but wanted to let u know you are a brave, courageous person and I hope that this flare responds to the meds soon and leaves you in peace.

Oh no DD.. I'm really sorry..
Can't think of anything positive to say, I'm afraid, just that you have my greatest sympathy..
Look after yourself
Marion x0 -
Hi DD,
just seen your thread. You have to keep pouring those meds down your neck or the PA will laugh even louder!
Stop swearing on Marion's behalf and start swearing on your own!
Running around after your Mum wont have helped and so you are going to have to rest (between expletives) and I hope it passes quickly. What an unmerry-go-round it is.
Thinking of you,
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
DD I'm sorry to hear you're having a bad flare up again, it's so unfair.
You are such a huge inspiration and help to everyone.
Wishing you all the best and I hope that you soon get some relief from this dreadful disease.

I'm sending you hugs, it's all I can do to help at the moment I'm afraid, I'm in a hopeless state of disrepair myself at the moment. Keep strong, I know that you are a fighter if ever I saw one! 8) ((((HUGS)))) xx0

Hi DD,
Flower you have to try that's the only thing you can do.
I really hope you get a decent night and the flare gets lost very soon for you. Its about time you had bit of a break..... You been doing too much the last week or so and maybe that's what has made this come about?
I still think the nerve blockers might help you flower....
Daisy has fluffed up that cope of yours and I have had another chat with it..... my cope said if he can survive, even if the chain is strained and he is bedraggled so can yours Sending you a ((((( ))))) and a hope as well as an anti-flare draft flower. Love Cris xx0 -
Oh DD, I'm so sorry to hear you're having a rough time at the moment. I agree with everything everyone else has said. That's the troble with Arthur he's a pain in the bum, he needs a good slap, pity we don't get the chance. Sorry I can't be more help as you've helped me countless times. I'll be thinking of you and sending good vibes your way.

Hi DD
Well....
you knew it was coming didn't you I am so so sorry though.....
Wish that there was an answer - you just have to 'give in' for now and look after YOU.
Please take care - if you are awol you WILL be missed
Love

Thank you everyone, you have all been so kind to think of me and taking the time to answer. It is rough at the mo, but hey, I've been here before and I have no doubt that I will be here again. It is what it is and this is what it does. Never mind, eh? At least I know my enemy and that helps. I have to flog to the doc's for a blood test for the BP meds and I shall ask them to do the hospital bloods as well - and I will not take no for an answer! Take care, everyone, and thank you. sorry you've been having such a tough time of it damsel
maybe when you see the doc you could ask whether there's a possibility that there's something else causing these frequent flares?....
or at least discuss whether the current combination of meds are working or not.
you've hardly had any respite from the inflammation..and maybe need for the docs to go back to the beginning with you to make sure nothing's been missed. :?:
hoping today's been even fractionally better for you.

Take care DD, I'm sorry things are so tough at the moment. Hang on in there. Maybe there is something the doctor can do to help you tomorrow.

Morning all, after a small struggle I have finally found my way onto the forums! Yeech! What a malarkey that proved to be. I am still struggling but not as badly - staying in bed is the answer so I am letting the world go hang until Monday. What doesn't get done doesn't get done - I care not one jot. The pain is controlled thanks to the slow-release tramadol (and top ups of co-cos) so that makes life more tolerable. I hope you are all as well as you can be, and coping as best as you can.
