Hi Toni,
There isnt going to be a next time when I see him....he said he would refer me to the physio at another hospital {closer to home} and i said will you want to see me later {meaning maybe 6 months or so not tomorrow LOL} he said no. Not unless the physio refers yu back to me??????Think thats another reason I'm a bit unsettled.

Hi I,
Yes the prospect of not having to have a second hip replacement in the near future is def. a good thing .....and the fact that I'm not having surgery on my back uggghhhhh but like I said in other posts ....still a bit unsettled because he doesnt want to see me again and thinks physio will cure it....well not cure it but help it. Referred pain from the back to the hips. One thing I did forget to tell him.....the hip consultant said that the problems I had with the spinal block MAY have exacerbated the back problems???

Hi Hileena,
Much relief at not having to have a back op or hip op :!: ....
but I can understand your confusion given what the hip surgeon said to you about the back causing referred pain.... and now the back specialist saying the opposite. :?
Perhaps going to see your doc and talking it all through might help clarify what's been said, the decisions that have been taken, and why.?
I hope that you don't have to wait too long for the physio and that it does help Hileena.

Hi Iris,
Like you I hope I dont have to wait too long for physio.
I suppose I could talk to my GP about it but dont have a lot of faith in him.......took me more than a year to convince him there was something wrong with me ....just a sore leg to start with but he kept telling me nothing was wrong??? until he got sick and referred me to a rheummy who diagnose OA in hips and lower spine.

Hi Julie
Thanks......I'm just a bit concerned that he is sending me for physio at a different hospiotal and doesnt need to see me again?? Didnt have the MRI results, and jiggled my leg around and said I didnt need a hip operation......no X Ray???
Decided to phone his secretary today to see if he was going to chase up the MRI and eventually look at it....answerphone saying she is sec to Mr Sanderson and Mr Gray and works 2 dayhs a week so cant take my call?????Hevens knows when I'll get referred in that case
Sorry for the rant

Hileena
I hope you get a good physio...
my friend saw one re her neck who INSISTED on an MRI to be sure she wasn't making things worse. So things might work to your advantage? I do hope so

Hi Hileena, not surprised you feel unsettled. First of all you needed both hips done, then you needed back treatment and now you just need physio.
I suppose the good thing is, is that if the physio can't help you (and lets hope they can) then they are to refer you back to the ortho.
Keep chasing up that MRI scan - like you say you need to know that your back doesn't need surgery for sure. Then if the physio doesn't work - make sure your GP re-refers you back to the hip guy.
I'm having a lot of pain at the mo and I had a check up today and the ortho reckons it is all in my back too! He is referring me to "back school" at the hospital physio dept (sounds ominous!) I'm hoping it resolves things.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Speedy,
You would think after all the restrictions etc that we went through things would be better but they just keep finding something else Never heard of back school before....let us know when its hbappening

Hi Hileena
Just catching up, glad you don't need surgery at the moment but sorry you are still in a bit of confusion there with the ever conflicting views. Really hope the physio helps when it comes. Perhaps they will be able to refer you for more xrays or scans if need be. You have been messed about enough so hope you get some definate progress soon.
take care

Hi Hileena,
Hope the physio will do the job and its good the ops are all on hold but there in the background should they need to be done.
I thin Iris is right and a chat through with the gp might help if you have that kind of gp? I also tend to think the examination is probably better than the mri results.... they can tell a lot from examining you but mri's are targeted and they don't always show the whole picture... or at least they didn't used to.
I had back surgery and when he opened me up what he found wasn't what he expected so maybe your guy doesn't nee the mri results in more than the writing? The reports tend to be quiet detailed.
Hey hoe you don't have to wait long for the physio and leaving you a mud soaked ((( ))) Cris xx0 -
Hi hileena
Catching up with your thread, how annoying that you couldn't get through to the people you wanted to talk to cause they only work a couple of days aweek.
I hope you soon get the physio app and that they can reassure you.
I also have had docs only read results rather than look at pictures and thought it was not right but maybe they have enough information in the summery as chris said.
Good luck
Take care
Sending hugs ((((()))

Hi Skeizer,
Part of the problem is I didnt even have an examanation....unless you can call walking across the floor once, knee reflexes, and jiggling my un operated hip about and saying you dont need a new hip.....an examanation???????????? LOL I dont.....he didnt touch my back which is what I was there for.

Hi
Sorry forgot to say......rang the GP yesterday...guess what...he wasnt there yesterday LOL....Murphys law!!!!! LOL
Its a one man band except for a lady doc that I have never seen that comes in for 2 half days....I thought I'll talk to her she'll have my records on the computer.
She said it was a bit unusual not to have the MRI and she would try to chase it up {she didnt have it either} she also said she would refer me to the physio.....I would think they will get that a lot quicker than from a consultant who has a secretary that works 2 days a week and is also a secretary to another consultant LOL
She {GP} said it'll not matter if 2 referrals go through.....so one bit of hope
Love
